Google’s Chromecast has been available in the United States for quite some time and it has been raved about. In fact we raved out it on our review, calling it a no brainer for any home setup. Now, more people can enjoy the Chromecast and that means more people can start casting! Google has announced that the popular device is now available in 11 more countries. Those lucky 11 countries being Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the U.K. Google wants to bring the Chromecast to many more countries, this way users can enjoy content in a whole new simple way.
The device has and will continue getting better, earlier this year they announced the Cast SDK. Which allows developers to add the Chromecast-ing functionality directly into their applications. Since the SDK’s launch over 3,000 developers have signed up and begun work. This number will continue to grow in the coming weeks, especially with this large country rollout. Stay tuned to chromecast.com/apps, to keep up to date with the latest applications. Already out of the box you can using YouTube, Google Play Movies, Google Play Music and Netflix (where available), BBC iPlayer in the U.K.; France TV Pluzz and SFR TV in France with CANALPLAY coming soon; and Watchever in Germany with Maxdome coming soon.
As of today in these 11 countries the Chromecast is available from Amazon, Google Play, Currys PC World, Elkjøp, FNAC, Saturn, Media Markt and other retailers.
