Sprints Unleashes The Galaxy S 5 Sport, Landing On July 25!

Sprint and Samsung have just announced the Galaxy S 5 Sport, similar to the Galaxy S 5 Active for AT&T, it is a more water and dust resistant device that is built tough. It moves the focus of the device, more to a sport side, with collaborations between Samsung and Under Armour along with MapMyFitness. It will be landing on exclusively on Sprint on July 25th and will cost $0 down (plus tax) and 24 monthly payments of $27.09 on Sprint EasyPay. The S 5 Sport will be available in Electric Blue and Cherry Red color options.

The device will feature many health applications and features, including S-Health, which can provide heart rate data, a built-in pedometer, and more. With activity zone you get a barometer, compass, flashlight and stopwatch from a single screen. Unlike the regular Galaxy S 5, the Sport features a textured and rubberized body. CHICAGO (BUSINESS WIRE), June 23, 2014 – Sprint (NYSE:S) is stepping up its presence in the growing health and fitness markets, announcing today the launch of an exclusive device from Samsung Telecommunications America and a collaboration with health and fitness market leaders Under Armour and MapMyFitness to offer mobile solutions for today’s active lifestyles.

Sprint will provide convenient mobile access to fitness tracking, educational information, and music, as well as offer applications to help consumers as they exercise, watch what they eat and take better care of themselves.

Sprint will launch on Friday, July 25 the Samsung Galaxy S® 5 Sport, an exclusive new Spark-enabled smartphone with both the hardware and software for today’s health-conscious users. Among the handset’s many features is S Health™1, an integrated mobile health platform to access health info, map out workouts, and make healthier eating choices. It even monitors heart rate before and after activity with a built-in heart-rate monitor. Samsung’s exclusive Activity Zone app is preloaded on Galaxy S 5 Sport offering the ability to open active lifestyle features, including a barometer, compass, flashlight and stopwatch from a single screen.

Galaxy S 5 Sport features a textured body making the smartphone easier to hold and preventing it from slipping from the hand. It features three hard keys so the smartphone is easier to operate when active. The Galaxy S 5 Sport is also IP67 water and dust resistant2 so it can be as active as its user.

Starting July 25 and for a limited time only, customers who purchase Samsung Galaxy S 5 Sport will get $50 off Samsung Gear Fit to help achieve health and fitness goals by tracking steps and monitoring heart rate.

The device will serve as the launch pad for Sprint Fit Live, a complete mobile health and fitness package giving customers instant access to their favorite fitness applications and activities, relevant health information when they want it and integration capability with their Spotify playlists. Sprint Fit Live also will be available on all new Sprint Android-powered smartphones in 2014.
