AT&T Will Be Getting The HTC Desire EYE And The RE By HTC Camera!

E1_3V_MattWhite_S

Earlier this week HTC had their big event in NYC, and AT&T has announced that they will be getting both devices announced at this event. The first being a new smartphone or should we say selfie phone, as HTC is calling it the selfie phone. Introducing the HTC Desire EYE, a new smartphone that will be landing this coming holiday season.

Unlike the HTC One M8, the Desire EYE is a plastic device, but is IPX7-compliant making it water-resistant. It’s smart feature is both a front and back 13 megapixel camera. Specifically, the lens on the front is wide-angle allowing you to capture awesome selfies. It should be said though, that the lens on the front is quite large, as it is 13 megapixels. On the back the 13 megapixel camera is paired with a dual LED flash. The cameras are paired with new motion tracking and voice activated software in the camera application. The HTC Desire EYE also features a 5.20inch 1080pHD display, a 2.3GHZ quad core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 4G LTE connectivity, HTC BoomSound speakers, and more! It will be landing this holiday season, but pricing and availability will be announced closer to the launch of the device.

The second device that HTC announced was the  RE by HTC camera, which could be considered a new GoPro competitor, but a much simpler version. It is a point-and-shoot action camera, that has a 146-degree wide-angle lens with a 16 megapixel sensor inside of it. It is controlled with one button essentially, for a photo you just tap it, and to start recording it is a long press. It records video in full 1080pHD, but there is no viewfinder on the product itself. It does however sync with both iOS and Android devices, allowing you to view the photos and videos you took there. There is a sensor built-into the device, and it will wake up automatically upon you lifting it up. The RE by HTC seems like an interesting device, but it will be interesting to see how the product performs. The RE by HTC camera will be landing this later this year.

Press Release

AT&T CONFIRMS HTC DESIRE EYE TO ARRIVE IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS ON THE NATION’S MOST RELIABLE 4G LTE NETWORK

RE BY HTC TO JOIN AT&T’S LEADING DEVICE AND ACCESSORY PORTFOLIO THIS YEAR

DALLAS, Oct. 9, 2014 – AT&T confirmed it will be the exclusive carrier for the HTC Desire® EYE this holiday season. AT&T also confirmed today that it will offer the RE™ by HTC, a point-and-shoot camera later this year. Pricing and full availability for both products will be announced at a later date.

HTC Desire EYE boasts a 5.2-inch full High Definition display (1080p), stylish design and powerful 2.3 GHz Quad-Core processor – all on the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network1 that reaches more than 300 million Americans. The smartphone enables you to capture amazing “selfies,” even in low-light with its 13MP front facing wide-angle camera and dual LED flash. The front and rear facing 13MP cameras with motion tracking and voice-activated software allow you to capture more background and wider group shots with smile capture or voice command. Share everything on your screen in real-time to get quick feedback from your friend or show off your photos. HTC Desire EYE is also IPX7-compliant, making it water-resistant up to one meter under water for 30 minutes.3 The HTC BoomSound™ front-facing speakers include a built-in amplifier boost volume for powerful and balanced sound.

Additional features of the HTC Desire EYE include:

•             Dimensions: 151.7 x 73.8 x 8.5 mm (154g)

•             Operating System: Android 4.4 KitKat

•             Memory: 16 GB / 2 GB

•             Battery: 2400mAh

RE by HTC has a 146-degree, wide-angle lens that captures everything you see in full view, replacing the need for a viewfinder. With a 16MP camera sensor and 1080p High Definition video, you can capture your world with high quality photos and video. RE easily integrates with both Android and iOS devices to back up your photos and videos to the cloud. Just grab, point and shoot with RE’s intuitive controls. The grip sensor is always on and wakes the capture capability when picked up. Simply tap the shutter button to capture photos or press and hold to take videos. RE is also IPX7-compliant.3 This means you can capture the fun up to one meter underwater for 30 minutes without a protective case. RE can connect to your smartphone with the companion RE application using Bluetooth. The RE app can transfer all of the photos and videos from your RE to your smartphone and can also back up your content to third-party cloud services such as Google Drive and Dropbox. The app also serves as both a content browser and live viewfinder on your device, mirroring what the camera is seeing.
