The Saturday Night Live 40th Special was epic and the ratings are both showing it and proving it. NBC’s SNL delivered an all-star performance in what can only be described as an epic and amazing night. The special started at 8PM and went until 11:30PM, but starting at 7PM they had live reports from the red carpet outside of Rockefeller Center and from the Peacock Lounge inside 30 Rock. The show featured a cold open musical number between Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake, and the start of a wonderful special.
The special it self measured in with over 23 million viewers and won the time slot among all four major networks across all rating measures. It is NBC’s top-rated primetime broadcast in over eight years, which beats out the Will & Grace finale. SNL’s 40th anniversary was the top-rated primetime entertainment SPECIAL in 10 years and is SNL’s top-rated primetime special in 14 years.
