Verizon Wireless is known for their service and reliability, and of course for lightning fast speeds 4G LTE and XLTE delivers. Today, RootMetrics has awarded Verizon Wireless for the eight time as the highest for overall network performance in the New York City area. This is one of the world’s largest and most used markets, that contains both commerce and tourism industries. This announcement is based off of testing done by RootMetrics that was calculated via the RootScore. These tests were done between February 15 and February 23 2015, in these tests they test out the four major carriers in six categories. They test for Overall, Reliability, Speed, Data, Call and Text. RootMetrics tested in many indoor locations and drove over 6,000 miles across the New York City area.

Verizon’s commitment to the region is shown by receiving this award for the eighth time, Kevin Zavaglia, the New York Metro Regional President, stated “Our customers in New York City demand nothing but the best, and the results from RootMetrics prove we are on the right track as we continue to invest in the network for our customers to help deliver a consistent, reliable experience.” The New York Metro region was one of the first 4G LTE markets for Verizon, and in 2013 Verizon turned on XLTE which utilizes the faster AWS spectrum. XLTE provides faster speeds during peak access times and when the network is really being pushed the test with many users connected. ROOTMETRICS® RANKS VERIZON WIRELESS TOPS IN OVERALL PERFORMANCE

FOR THE NEW YORK CITY AND TRI-STATE AREA

NEW YORK— RootMetrics, an independent mobile analytics firm based in Seattle, released its eighth New York City and Tri-State Area, RootScore® report and, for the eighth time Verizon Wireless received the highest award for overall network performance in one of the world’s busiest metropolitan markets for population, commerce and tourism.

Each RootScore is calculated from a combination of tests that are weighted to reflect the impact that a consumer would experience. Scores were based on RootMetrics testing performed between February 15 and February 23, 2015, where the company ranked the four major U.S. wireless providers in six network performance categories: Overall, Reliability, Speed, Data, Call and Text.

RootMetrics drove over 6,000 miles across the New York City area, as well as testing many indoor locations. The company said its study was designed to portray a typical consumer mobile network performance experience.

“The New York City market has a high concentration of customers who have embraced the mobile lifestyle and depend on their wireless service across the board in their daily business and personal activities,” said Kevin Zavaglia, New York Metro Regional President, Verizon Wireless. “Our customers in New York City demand nothing but the best, and the results from RootMetrics prove we are on the right track as we continue to invest in the network for our customers to help deliver a consistent, reliable experience.”

Verizon operates the nation’s largest and most reliable 4G LTE network.

In mid-2014, Verizon Wireless rolled out its latest XLTE network technology in New York City. XLTE utilizes Verizon’s AWS (Advanced Wireless Services) spectrum to double 4G LTE network capacity.  Greater capacity means more customers at once can send photos, download videos, surf the internet and more at peak speeds on their smartphones, tablets and other devices.

While XLTE network enhancements are invisible to the customer, the mobile experience is not. XLTE-ready devices automatically access both 700 MHz spectrum and the AWS spectrum in XLTE cities, such as New York. XLTE adds capacity in neighborhoods or areas where demand is high, especially during busy periods like rush hour, lunch times in crowded areas or during events when mobile data use is the highest.
