ZTE has had quite the summer, after all they did announced their latest flagship device the AXON phone. But they still care about no-contract pre-paid brands and this time around they are working with a Sprint pre-paid subsidiary. They have just unleashed the ZTE Warp Elite for Boost Mobile which is the successor to the Warp Sync. The Warp Elite is landing today, August 18th, and comes in at $179.99 and you can get it direct from Boost Mobile. This is of course the latest addition to the Warp family from ZTE and is design to offer premium features at a price that won’t break the bank. This device can be paired with one of Boost Mobile’s plans, like there $30 a month Data Boost Up plan.

The successor to the Sync, comes with plenty of upgrades; You start off with a 5.5-inch TFT 720pHD display with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top. This display is not 1080p, but does have a 720p resolution of 1080 x 720. The display will be showcasing Android 5.1 Lollipop with a ZTE user interface, but good news is that the interface is much lighter than what it used to be. Plus, it appears that Google Chrome will be the default and only pre-installed web browser on the device.

The Warp Elite will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad core processor with 2GB of RAM, plus you will get 16GB of internal storage and micro SD card slot for expansion. ZTE has placed a 3,000mAh battery inside and it features Quick Charge 1.0 which should let you get a full battery sooner when charging. The back of the device features a 13 megapixel camera with an LED flash, while you get a 5 megapixel lens on the front.

It will be running on Sprint’s 4G LTE network, as well as have support Spark LTE, which is the faster band of 4G LTE that is offered by the carrier. As an added bonus the Warp Elite is an IPx7 certified device which means it can go in water for up to 30 minutes in up to 3.28 feet of water. It can handle dust thanks to an IPx5 certification.

Overall, the ZTE Warp Elite for Boost Mobile seems like a solid entry-level device and is a well deserved upgrade from the original Warp Sync.
