There’s a new crayon coming to town and no it wont be called “new blue”! While Dandelion has already left and had a nice retirement tour, this new blue is looking for a name. This new blue isn’t a repeat either, it’s an entirely new shade of blue based on Mas Subramanian’s YInMn blue from 2009 and fits nicely in the middle of the blue spectrum.

The winner will receive a $100 award and the site advertises that a new winner will be announced every week until early June, when the submission process will end. The crayon’s official name will be announced in September. The user must enter their birthday, but if they are too young they will be told that they are not eligible for the sweepstakes.

This new blue is replacing the Dandelion colored crayon in the boxes that would have featured that color. Hopefully this new blue finds a good name and it will surely be welcome among the other great Crayola Crayons.
