The Hub is a locker delivery system for apartment buildings from Amazon

Amazon already has their delivery network, like a fleet of Prime airplanes. These aviation vehicles, along with trucks and proprietary delivery systems help to make the Prime service work so well. But today Amazon is moving into a new area of delivery–The Hub is a locker delivery system designed for apartment buildings.

It is essentially a locker system for apartment buildings that eliminates the need for someone to sign for packages or to be there to disperse them. Even better it is customized for each apartment and as expected Amazon is selective in which locations get them. Building owners or developers will need to apply, and Amazon has a set of criteria for them.

The Hub lockers are not just for Amazon packages, but they are for any package that is sent to your address. There is a touch screen built into the lockers, and you will enter a confirmation code. From there one of the lockers will open, and you can get your package from inside. There is no time commitment for when to pick up your package, and it is a safe location for the packages.

Amazon describes The Hub as worry free, convenient, reliable, and supported. And while the name sounds like a hip social network, I have a feeling The Hub will take off for a plethora of apartment buildings and housing locations.
