Starter Mode makes Android super to use, with helpful widgets and smooth visuals.
Our friends over at LG have sent us the Boost Mobile LG Venice for us to review! LG has been on a worldwide tour of high-end hand sets like the Optimus G and Nexus 4! They have also put out some mid-range hand sets like the AT&T LG Escape and then for pre-paid they had the LG Motion 4G for MetroPCS. And now they have a new offering for Boost Mobile and that is the Venice. It has a slim design, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 4.3-inch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass and more! But, should the Boost Mobile LG Venice, be your next smartphone? We will answer that in the full review, which begins right now!
Our friends over at LG have sent us the T-Mobile Optimus L9 for us to review! This is part of LG’s L-Series, and this fits into T-Mobile’s mid range line up. It will work on T-Mobile’s newly announced Unlimited Nationwide 4G with no contract service and while it does not have the same features or specifications of the Optimus G devices, it has some solid features. It is running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with an LG User Interface, and it does have the ever-so-popular LG Quick Memo application. If your into good-looking phones, you may have found your device as well. Now, let’s dive into the full review of the T-Mobile LG Optimus L9!
Our friends over at LG have sent us the Sprint variant of the Optimus G! This is one of Sprint’s newest devices and LG’s flagship device. And you could say that it starts a new direction for LG. They found a great way to mix hardware, software, and design together that just looks amazing. We have already reviewed the Optimus G for AT&T, You Can See That Review By Clicking Here. There are differences between the AT&T and Sprint variant, and there is also an unlocked variant of the device. LG has a couple of devices on Sprint, they had the Viper 4G LTE which was the first 4G LTE device for the carrier and a eco-friendly device. If you look at these two devices the design is drastically different. Now, let’s dive into the LG Optimus G for Sprint.
Our friends over at LG have sent us the LG Motion 4G for Metro PCS for us to review! This is one of MetroPCS’s newest 4G LTE devices, and while it be small in size it still packs a punch. It features a 3.5-inch screen, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 4G LTE speeds, and much more. Keep in mind that MetroPCS is a pre-paid carrier, they are similar to Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. You but the device out right and then choose your monthly plan. The LG Motion 4G will cost you $149.99 for the device. But should the LG Motion 4G be your next device? We will answer that in the full review which begins right now!
Design
The LG Motion 4G for MetroPCS is not a large device, in fact it is quite compact and small. The length of the device is around 4.37-inches and it is 2.39-inches wide. It should fit in most people’s hand fine, and it should be comfortable. The back has some texture to it, but not enough texture to provide the best grip. It has some thickness to it at 0.45-inches. It is not heavy at 5.64-ounces. However, you have to remember that is a very small and compact device. It could easily fit in your pants pocket or be thrown into a purse or clutch. Let’s start off on the back of the device, you have a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, a MetroPCS logo, 4G logo, LG logo, and a speaker. The back cover is a little difficult to take off, and it has the same build quality as the rest of the plastic backs for devices on the market. Under the back cover you will find the 3.8 V Li-ion LG battery. Under the battery you will find the micro SD card slot and your micro SIM card slot. On the top of the device you will find the power/sleep button and headphone jack. The left hand side is home to your volume rocker and micro USB port. The bottom and right hand side of the LG Motion 4G are both empty, which helps to make design very simple. Above the screen you will find the LG logo and front facing camera. Below the screen are you’re 3 touch buttons, those being back, home, and menu. Going around the front of the device is silver aluminum lining, this adds a pop of color to the device. The siding going around the entire device is a shiny black plastic. While the logos and the siding around the front are the only real source of color. That is besides what is on the display. Overall, the design of the LG Motion 4G for MetroPCS is small and compact.
Hardware
As I said before the LG Motion 4G packs a punch even though it has a small design. Let’s start off with the screen, it has a nice 3.5-inch Corning Gorilla Glass touch screen display. It’s resolution is a little low at 480 X 320, the image turns a little grainy when you zoom in or start looking at high-resolution photos. For the most part colors look very vivid and bright, and the screen looks the best when the brightness is turned all the way up. It has protection from its Corning Gorilla Glass layer, this is a big advantage for the LG Motion 4G over other devices that MetroPCS offers. For storage you get 5GB of internal storage, plus the micro SD card slot. It is always important to have the option to expand your storage. You get access to MetroPCS’s 4G LTE network, which will you give you faster speeds. It is not the fastest network out there, and does net yet compare to Verizon or AT&T’s 4G LTE network. However, web browsing and downloading applications goes by pretty quickly. Keep in mind that it all depends on the coverage in your area. The phone itself moves fast thanks to it’s 1.2GHz Dual-Core processor, the phone is zippy and fast! Opening applications and swiping through different screens happens very quickly and for the most part no lag time can be found. On the back you have an okay 5-megapixel camera with LED flash. It features autofocus, tap to focus, speak to take a photo, panorama, HDR(High Dynamic Range), continuous shot, time catch shot, and much more. Quality of the image depends on your conditions, it performs very well outdoors with good lighting. While inside in either dark conditions or very bright conditions, there might be a yellow tone on the image. The front facing camera has around the same quality of the back camera, it comes in handy for video calling on the go. Overall, the hardware on the LG Motion 4G is pretty good.
Software
The LG Motion 4G is running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and this is always an advantage to have one of the newest operating systems. However, no word on when or if Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is coming to the Motion 4G. It does come with LG Quick Memo, this is an awesome application that was originally made for the Verizon Wireless Intuition by LG. Of course you don’t have a pen to use out of the box, but using your finger in this case is just as good. If you like to take screenshots or write on a photo, this application will come in handy. It will allow you take a screen capture and then customize it to your liking! Than you can save it your gallery, send it in an email or text message, and much more! LG also has included a simple user interface on the device, that as usual does make the device more simpler to use. Out of the box you have an interesting Metro PCS background and some pre-loaded applications. You get 4G Mobile Hotspot, AppStore, Backup, Emergency Alert, Google Chrome, Car Home, Google App Suite, guided Tours, IM and Social, Into Now, M Studio, mail@metro, Metro Block-It, MetroPCS Easy Wifi, Metro 411, MetroWeb, MyExtras, myMetro, Polaris Office, Pocket Express, Rhapsody, SmartShare, SmartWorld, Sportacular, Task Manager, Total Protection, Video Wiz, Weather, YouTube and More! LG And MetroPCS has also customized you home screens out of the box with widgets and application short cuts, and of course you can redo the customization to you liking. The speedy 1.2GHz Dual-Core processor keeps the LG Motion 4G running quick and fast. The main issue here is the amount of pre-installed applications, but hopefully you can remove some of them. Overall, the software included on the LG Motion 4G is nice.
Bottom Line
Overall, the LG Motion 4G for MetroPCS is a nice device! It has a speedy 1.2GHz Dual-Core Processor, 4G LTE speeds(where available) from MetroPCS, a clear 3.5-inch Corning Gorilla Glass touch screen display, a nice User Interface from LG running on top of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 5GB of internal space plus a micro SD card, and more. The bad side of the Motion 4G would be the not-so-great camera and the many pre-loaded applications. But if you can get past those few minor things you may have found the 4G gem of MetroPCS smartphone lineup. You get Android 4.0 which is huge step up from 2.3.5, so you are already at advantage here and you get LG QuickMemo. The LG Motion 4G on MetroPCS is available for your purchase and will cost you $149.99 . And then since it is a pre-paid network you will then choose the monthly plan that best fits your needs. Our friends over at LG have sent us the Verizon Intuition by LG for us to review! This is LG’s answer to the phablet, and it is a similar device to the Galaxy Note from Samsung. Currently it is the only phablet on Verizon Wireless so it has the market for now, but coming soon it will have competition from the Galaxy Note II. And the big feature(literally), is the 5-inch 4:3 display. And you need to be able to handle the device to enjoy it and get the most out of it, but should this be your next smartphone? We will answer that in the full review which begins now!
Our friends over at Verizon have sent us the LG Spectrum for us to review. This device is basically the Verizon equivalent to the LG Nitro HD for AT&T. The Verizon LG Spectrum was announced way back at CES 2012, and was launched in January. It has a new design, but still the same amazing display and camera as the LG Nitro HD. But, should this be your next smartphone on Verizon? We will answer that in the full review which begins now.
Design
While the LG Spectrum is not the most handsome device on the market, it does have a design that may appeal to some people. LG changed the design quite a bit from the Nitro HD, to the Spectrum. The back of the device is slippery, as it is a shiny plastic. This doesn’t let you get a good grip on the phone, and you may be more likely to have it slip out of the hand. Thanks fully a case will solve this problem instantly. The back has a painted textured pattern device, that is there but not actually there. Meaning that you cannot feel the texture, nor does it improve your grip. You also have a LG logo, 4G LTE logo, speaker, and the 8 megapixel camera with LED flash. If you take the back off you will find the SIM Card slot, micro SD card slot, and the 3.8V Li-ion battery. If you flip the device over, you can see that there is aluminum going around the sides of the front of the device, this is for the most part the only color besides black that you will find on the device. Above the screen you have a Verizon logo, a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, and an ear piece. Below these green you will find the 3 touch capactive buttons. You get a menu, home, and back button, each of them do light up as well. Your volume rocker is located on the left hand side. On the top of the device you have a power/sleep button, headphone jack, and the micro USB port. The micro USB port is hidden under a little door. So, the design is not the worst thing on the market, but the device is not that thick either. It comes in at 0.41 inches thick and weighs only 4.99 ounces. I personally think that LG could have made the design nicer, but overall I don’t think it will affect the consumer that much.
Display
Like the Nitro HD had, the LG Spectrum has a great display. However, some would say that it is late to the game because both the Verizon HTC Rezound and Galaxy Nexus have HD displays. They all are equal in their quality, so it really depends on what else the phone has. For instance if Beats Audio is something you want, you would go with the HTC Rezound. For Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich go for the Nexus or wait for the updates to come to the other devices, like the LG Spectrum. The LG Spectrum has a 4.5 inch True HD IPS Capacitive Touch Screen Display, that is just gorgeous. It has a resolution of 1280 X 720, so it will have the same quality as the HDTV in your house. And when you think about that, it is amazing at how far the technology has come since smartphones first came out. And you also get the correct and proper 16:9 HD ratio on this device. And if you have a habit of dropping or scratching your phones, you will have some more protection with the Spectrum thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Viewing angles on this device are awesome and the quality of the images on this device looks amazing. Unfortunately, Verizon Viewdini is not yet available on this device, but when it makes the jump to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich you will be able t use this service. With Verizon 4G LTE you can stream HD movies and TV shows right from Netflix in no time at all. Which makes what you are watching even better. Overall, the display is one of the best features that the Spectrum brings to the table.
Hardware
Let’s talk about the other hardware that is found on the Verizon LG Spectrum. For speed you not only get Verizon 4G LTE, but you also get a 1.5GHz Dual-Core Processor with 1GB of RAM. And for the most part the phones run smoothly. Swiping through different home screens and scrolling through applications are a breeze. As you may remember with the original 4G LTE phone for Verizon, there were some battery issues. And yes we are talking about the classic and ground-breaking HTC Thunderbolt. Well, that battery was not that good and neither is the one on the LG Spectrum, with normal usage it just would not last the full day. And the bad part, is that inside this guy it has a pretty powerful battery. It should get you through most of the day, but the 4G LTE speeds just kill this guy if you are using it a lot. So, I would suggest either an extend battery or going over to WiFi. Another great feature of the LG Spectrum is the great 8 megapixel camera on the back, it is the same quality as the Nitro HD. And the photos and video(1080pHD) look amazing on the device. And you can watch the film you just recorder on a full HD screen. They did a hit a home run with the LG Spectrum’s back camera. The front-facing camera is okay, it is fine for video calling while on the go or for talking “selfies”. In terms of space here, internally you get 4GB, but out of the box you get a pre-installed 16GB micro SD card. So, space is not really a worry here. In term’s of 4G LTE speeds from Verizon we are looking at around 20Mbps Download and 5Mbps for Upload, so we have some good coverage here, but you can expect some fast speeds from Verizon 4G LTE. Overall, the hardware on the LG Spectrum is solid.
Software
The Verizon LG Spectrum, is another device that is waiting for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Currently it is running Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread with a LG User Interface. I personally like everything in the LG User Interface, besides how they use the application draws. However, some of you may really enjoy this feature. You get some nice widgets as well, that pull all of your social media into one simple place, see what the weather is with some nice graphics, one really cool widget is that you can swipe up and down and easily access videos, photos, albums, artists, or playlists. This makes it super day to access and enjoy all of the entertainment on your phone. In term of pre-loaded applications you get some, like the Google App Suite, ESPN ScoreCenter, Netflix, Smart Movie HD, Amazon Kindle, Apps, Blockbuster, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, Let’s Golf 2, Mobile Hotspot, My Verizon Mobile, NFL Mobile, Rhapsody, TuneWiki, Slacker, V Cast Mobile, V Cast Tones, Verizon Video, VideoSurf, VZ Navigator, Smart-share, YouTube and more. Sports Fans will enjoy ESPN Score Center and NFL Mobile. People who want to tai advantage of the HD screen will like those as well, and of course Netflix. Multitasking, and other normal use of the device runs smoothly, thanks to the 1.5GHz Dual-Core Processor. Overall, the software is nice on the LG Spectrum and Android 4.0 will make it even better.
Bottom Line
The Verizon LG Spectrum is a solid device, and for the price you get some really nice features. You get a beautiful 4.5 inch True HD IPS Capacitive Touch Screen Display, a great 8 megapixel back camera, insanely fast speeds from Verizon 4G LTE, a 1.5GHz Dual-Core Processor, and more. We are still waiting for the upgrade to Android 4.0, but Verizon said it is in the works. I mean if you want a nice Verizon 4G LTE phone, that wont cost too much and has a HD screen with a great camera, I think you found your guy. The Verizon LG Spectrum will cost you $149.99 with a 2-year contract or $589.99 off contract. At The Time Of This Review(7/5/12), The Verizon LG Spectrum Is Currently On Sale Online Only For The Price Of $99.99 With A 2-year Contract. For More Information On The Verizon LG Spectrum, Please Click Here. We would like to thank Verizon Wireless for providing us with a copy of the “Verizon LG Spectrum”.
Our friends over at Virgin Mobile have sent us the Virgin Mobile LG Optimus Elite for us to review. As many of you know Virgin recently announced their 4G WiMAX network, however the LG Optimus Elite is not part of that. Instead it is the first Virgin Mobile device to have Google Wallet! And of course this thanks to a Near Field Communications chip, that is built-in. There is more to this device than just that, it is running Android, has a nice design and much more. But should you go with this device? We will answer that in the full review, which begins right now!
Design
LG has made some very nice phones in the past, and as expected the LG Optimus Elite for Virgin Mobile has a nice design. When you first pick up the device you will notice that it is thin and very light, so you are already off to a good start with this device. It is just .39 inches thick and weighs only 4.25 ounces. The back of the device is textured plastic, and there is aluminum going around the sides. Keep in mind that built-in to the back cover is the NFC(Near Field Communications) chip, so be careful when you are taking this on and off. This way you do not damage it. Speaking of which on the back you have a 5 megapixel camera, LED flash, a tiny mirror, and the LG logo. Above the screen you have an earpiece and the Virgin Mobile logo. Keep in mind that there is no front facing camera on the Optimus Elite. Below the screen you have the 4 touch capacitive android buttons. Those are your home, menu, back and search. They are silver when the screen is not on, but they do light up and glow white when you are using the device. This fits in with the design of the device. Along the bottom of the phone you will find a microphone and a micro USB port. Your headphone jack and power/sleep button can be found along the top of the device. And last but not least you will find the volume rocker on the left hand side. If you, carefully, pop the back cover off you will find the micro SD card slot and 3.7 V Li-Ion battery. Overall, the design of the LG Optimus Elite is very nice.
Hardware
Now we move onto the hardware of the Virgin Mobile LG Optimus Elite. For starters you get a 3.5-inch HVGA touch screen display. Compared to many other smartphones on the market today, this display is a little small. If you are a big game player, this may be an issue for you. However, if you are a first time Android user you should be fine with the screen size. The viewing angles on the display are good, unless if you are looking at from a very bad angle. Like directly on the side, the colors will not be vibrant and the image appears blurry. As with many devices when the brightness is all the way up, your colors pop out and look much more vibrant. This was exactly the case with the Optimus Elite. Even though this guy only has an 800MHz processor with 512MB of RAM, it does go pretty fast. If you want a fast experience don’t have too many applications open at once, and also just want to make sure you know that shutting off and turning on does take a while on this phone. But switching apps and using them is quite fast and I was impressed by its performance. There is 4GB of internal storage and around 2GB’s of that is user accessible. While it does have a micro SD slot that can hold up to a 32GB micro SD card, a micro SD card is not included with the purchase of this device. However, fear not LG and Box have partnered to give you 50GB of free cloud storage. This would usually cost around $240 for an entire year. Simply download the “Box” application and set-up your account. The 50GB of free storage offer is available until July 22, 2012 for all LG Devices. Now as usual you get 3G speeds, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. On the back of this device you have a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. This camera gets the job done, for the most part. Focusing does take some time, but it will get there. While using the camera the quality of the photographs were hit or miss at times, but it should get the job done if your conditions are right. Overall, the hardware of the LG Optimus Elite is good in my opinion.
Virgin Mobile Plans And Network Test
Many of your are probably wondering how much is it going to cost for the calling, texting, and data plans a month. Well, one great thing about Virgin Mobile is that there plans are priced pretty well for the most part. And at time they beat out the big carriers, such as T-Mobile, AT&T, or Verizon. All of their plans give you Unlimited Data And Messaging. For $35 a month you get 300 Anytime Minutes and Unlimited Data And Messaging. For $45 a month you get 1200 Anytime Minutes and Unlimited Data And Messaging. And finally for $55 a month you get Unlimited Minutes, Data, And Messaging. So they really do have a plan to fit everyone’s need. Now, we move onto the Network or Speed test of the LG Optimus Elite. This is a 3G phone, so we are getting 3G speeds. Check out our results right here:
NJTechReviews Virgin Mobile LG Optimus Elite Speed Test
We saw some high 3G speeds on Virgin Mobile’s Network but, we also saw some low 3G speeds on their network. Overall, the network could be improved but, it should be fine and may even get better as more people migrate to their 4G WiMAX network, which launches in just a couple of days on May 31.
Software
The Virgin Mobile LG Optimus Elite features Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread, rather than putting an LG User Interface on this device you get Virgin Mobile ID. Basically it is the same as Sprint ID, you can choose from many different ID packs and they act as a custom user interface to fit your need. If you are an eco-friendly person choose the Green pack, if you want E! (entertainment show), then get the “E!” ID pack. They offer something for everyone and I enjoy this feature. For pre-loaded apps you get some, like Activate, Google App Suite, YouTube, Buzz Feed, Camcorder, Camera, Downloads, Facebook, Flash Player Settings, Mobile ID, News & Weather, My Account, Play Store, Polaris Viewer, Google Wallet, Google Shopper, Tuning Fork, Yelp, Wikipedia, Voicemail, Virgin Mobile Live, and more. Virgin Mobile Live is one of my favorite applications on this device and many of Virgin Mobile’s other smartphones. Basically it is a 24/7 radio station, that streams some pretty good music. In the application itself you can see some music videos, the latest music news, and listen to some good bands. And of course this is free on your device, and does require an internet connection. Next up is the best feature of the phone, that is if you use it. And that as many of you have guessed is Google Wallet. And it works well at times but, at other times you may be better off using your good old-fashioned wallet. Basically it stores you credit card, or you can fill up your Google Wallet card, and simply tap to pay where it is accepted. It works at many stores such as CVS Pharmacy, Macy’s, and some others. For a full list of stores head over to http://www.google.com/wallet/ . Overall, the software on the LG Optimus Elite is excellent.
Bottom Line
Let’s get the pricing out there before we decided whether or not you want this device. It costs $149.99 to get the Virgin Mobile LG Optimus Elite, and then you choose one of the plans that we spoke about in the “Virgin Mobile Plans And Network Test” section above. So, it is not that bad of a price if you want a phone with Google Wallet and NFC capabilities. If you don’t have your heart set on being able to use Google Wallet, than you may want to wait for another Virgin Mobile device like the HTC EVO V 4G. You Can Get The Virgin Mobile LG Optimus Elite, By Clicking Here. We would like to thank Virgin Mobile USA for providing us with a copy of the “Virgin Mobile LG Optimus Elite”.
Today Verizon Wireless unveiled the LG Lucid. It is a new exclusive smartphone for Verizon. It will cost only $79.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate with a 2-year contract. It has a 4-inch touchscreen display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, which will make it more durable and better quality of images. The best feature maybe that it works on Verizon 4G LTE. For even more speed it has 1GB of RAM and a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It has a 5 mega-pixel back camera with flash and it records 720pHD video. On the front it has a camera that is perfect for self portraits and video chatting. It has a built-in Video Producer application by LG, that will allow you to edit your video right on the phone. The Verizon 4G LTE device is here and that is the LG Spectrum! It features a 4.5 inch True HD Display, yes this is the same display on the LG Nitro HD. As you may remember the screen on the LG Nitro HD was remarkable and amazing, so we have very high hopes for the LG Spectrum. It also features the ESPN ScoreCenter app, which has exclusive HD video content for the LG Spectrum. For speed you have Verizon’s Insanely Fast 4G LTE Network and a Qualcomm 1.5 GHz dual-core processor! As of today Verizon’s 4G LTE Network covers 195 Markets! It is running Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread and an updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is coming soon! It features an 8 megapixel back camera with an LED Flash and it records video in 1080pHD video. I assume that this is the same amazing camera that was on the LG Nitro HD as well. Our friends over at LG have sent us the LG Nitro HD for us to review. We have already given you the hands-on and now it is time for the full review. The biggest feature of the LG Nitro HD is it’s True HD display, the name of the device hints at that. It also features an amazing 8 mega-pixel HD camera. We will have more on that in the full review. So, is this the next phone that you should get? We will answer that in the full review. Now, let’s get started with the full review of the LG Nitro HD!
Display
As I said before the most important feature of the LG Nitro HD is it’s display. I figured that would be a good place to start the review off with. The LG Nitro HD is the first phone to have a full True HD Display. It uses IPS technology for the display. It has 329ppi (points per inch) and to put that in perspective the human eye has around 290ppi (points per inch). It has a gorgeous 4.5 inch HD AH-IPS display. It’s resolution is 1280 X 720 pixels. Colors look absolutely amazing on this device. It is better if not comparable to any HDTV on the market today. Besides for the display the device is basically the same as the Galaxy S II Skyrocket but, the screen puts the LG Nitro HD one step ahead. Even if you are not in the market for a new phone, go out to your local AT&T store ,when the phone becomes available, and check out this insane display.
Hardware
Now, let’s move on to the rest of the great hardware that the LG Nitro HD has to offer. On the top of the phone you have the power/sleep button, micro USB port, and the headphone jack. Your volume rocker can be found on the left hand side. On the back you have the LG Logo, speaker, as well as the 8 mega-pixel HD camera with LED flash. Above the screen you have the earpiece, AT&T logo, and a 1.3 mega-pixel front facing camera. Under the screen you have 3 android buttons those are menu, home, and back. The back cover has some texture to it, this way it won’t fall out of your hand. Under the back cover you will find the pre-installed 16GB micro SD card, AT&T SIM Card, the battery, and a speaker. The LG Nitro HD runs on AT&T’s 4G LTE Network, where it is available. If you are not yet covered by AT&T’s 4G LTE Network it will run on AT&T’s HSPA+ Network. They have put a lot of work into both networks and they both run well. While, at the event we did have access to AT&T’s 4G LTE Network and boy was it fast. There where plenty of other LG Nitro HD’s in the room but, it did not slow down the network too much. The nationwide roll out of AT&T’s 4G LTE Network has begun. For speed on the phone it has a 1.5 GHz Dual-Core Processor, the phone runs very fast. Other features that the LG Nitro HD have include an accelerometer, proximity sensor, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, Personal Hotspot, and more. It has an 8 mega-pixel HD camera on the back with an LED Flash. It records video in up to 1080pHD. On the front you have a 1.3 mega-pixel camera, that is perfect for video chatting. The hardware in the LG Nitro HD is great!
Camera
Probably the second greatest feature of the LG Nitro HD is it’s back camera. It has a great 8 mega-pixel HD camera with LED flash. Tyler Shields ,a photographer, said that it was one of the best cameras on a cellphone yet. While at the event they had photos that he took around the room. One of them was taken with the LG Nitro HD, and the rest were taken with his regular camera gear. He does not use Photoshop or any editing on his photos. It was very hard to see which photo was taken with the LG Nitro HD because they all looked so amazing. This is a great way to so how powerful and amazing the 8 mega-pixel camera on the LG Nitro HD is. In terms of video it is just as good there and watching the playback of the video on the LG Nitro HD is amazing. You can see our video camera test below, it was taken with the LG Nitro HD’s 8 mega-pixel HD camcorder that was recording in 1080pHD.
Operating System
The LG Nitro HD does not have Ice Cream Sandwich yet, but it will be getting upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich next year. For now it is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread with LG’s User Interface running on top of it. The operating system and user interface run great on the LG Nitro HD! This is thanks to it’s 1.5GHz Dual-Core Processor. It gives it fast multitasking and speeds up the entire phone. The LG Nitro HD features both Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Share. Both make it much easier to share photos and other files between other devices. Instead of having to go through a personal hotspot you can connect directly to the other device. It is a great feature to have. In terms of other pre-loaded apps you have Amazon Kindle, Application Manager, AT&T Code Scanner, AT&T FamilyMap, AT&T Navigator, Books, Calculator, Facebook, Featured Apps, Get HD Games, GMail, Live TV, MOG, Movies, myAT&T, Navigation, Note Pad, Polaris Office, Google App Suite, YouTube, QIK Lite, SmartShare, Talk, Twitter, Visual Voicemail, Voice Recorder, Weather, Yellow Pages, Zynga Poker HD, and more! You have a large range of pre-loaded apps, many of them you will enjoy. In terms of Live Wallpapers you have a couple of choices like Galaxy, Grass, MOG, Nexus, and Water. With regular wallpapers you get anything from your gallery. The User Interface of the device is just like the one found on other LG Smartphones. It makes the phone much easier to use and gives you more features. For instances you get some pre-loaded widgets like Twitter For LG, Facebook For LG, Finance, Weather, Events, News, MOG, and more. MOG is a featured app on this device. You Can See Our Review Of MOG, By Clicking Here. With the MOG Live Wallpaper it showcases the Album Artwork as your wallpaper. That is the music that you have been listening to in MOG. Overall, the Operating System and User Interface make the LG Nitro HD even better.
Bottom Line
The LG Nitro HD is one of the best smartphone’s on the market. It is a revolutionary device, it is the first phone to have a True IPS HD Display. However LG knew that they could not just make a phone with one big feature, so they added in 4G LTE Support, a 1.5GHz Dual-Proccessor, an amazing 8 mega-pixel camera, and more. You definitely have to consider the LG Nitro HD if you are in the market for a new smartphone. The LG Nitro HD retails for $249.99 with a 2-year contract from AT&T. While at the LG Nitro HD Media Event, Brian Scollo ,a LG Field Product Trainer, showed us around the LG Nitro HD. You can see our hands-on video right below. Our full review is coming very soon and so far i am very impressed with the device. It’s true 4.5 inch HD Display, may be the best feature on the phone. The quality of it is still amazing and is still surprising. It also has a 1.5GHz Dual Cored Processor and access to AT&T 4G LTE Network. Be sure to check out our hands-on with Brian Scollo and stay tuned for our full review of the LG Nitro HD!
Tonight I was at the LG Nitro HD Event in New York City. I finally got my hands-on the new LG Nitro HD. It will be launching this Sunday, December 4 exclusively on AT&T. It’s biggest feature is it’s great HD Screen. It has a 4.5 inch True HD IPS Display. This is the first True HD Display on a phone. The resolution of this awesome screen is 1280 x 720, this gives it not only a higher resolution but it makes the screen easier to read. It will be running on AT&T’s 4G LTE Network, that is currently in its deployment process. If AT&T’s 4G LTE Network is not yet available in your area, you will be running on AT&T’s HSPA+Network. Either way you will get some fast data speeds. Not only does it have a fast network but, inside it has a 1.5 GHz Dual-Core Processor that makes the phone lighting fast. Multitasking on the LG Nitro HD is a charm, there is no delay at all. It doesn’t have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich yet, for now it has Android 2.3 Gingerbread with LG’s User Interface running on top of it. Now, the LG Nitro HD has an amazing 8 mega-pixel camera. Tyler Shields tested it out and he is calling the “Best Camera On A Cellphone”. At the event they had some photographs that he had taken, and one of them was taken with LG Nitro HD. The hard part was finding it because they all looked amazing. The camera is great and the 4.5 inch True HD IPS Display is the perfect match. It records video in gorgeous 1080pHD video. In terms of space to hold all of your apps and photos, you have 4GB of internal Memory and it comes with a 16GB micro SD card. Overall, the LG Nitro HD is definitely going to make a splash on the market and is a great device. We will have a video of our hands-on in the upcoming days. And look forward to our full review of the LG Nitro HD coming very soon. It will cost you $249.99 with a 2-year contract from AT&T.
