Miguel Montero COO and General Manager of Viva Mòvil Interview

Jacob Krol of NJTechReviews had the opportunity to interview Miguel Montero, the COO and General Manager of Vivia Mòvil! Viva Mòvil is a new brand under Verizon Wireless, that is innovating the retail stores of the wireless industry. They wanted to create a new way to retail devices and plans to a specific segment of the population, that being the Modern Latino Consumer. This new brand is a place for everyone to shop for mobile phones or for anything a wireless provider can offer. They wanted to make it special for this specific segment, having employees who are bilingual and those who make the store very welcoming. Having an area for your kids to hang out and experience the new technology, overall a fun and inviting store. 1.  Can you tell me a little about yourself and what you do for Viva Mòvil?

[MM] I am Miguel Montero, COO and General Manager of Viva Móvil. I have been involved with this project since the very beginning when we started to discuss how to bring something truly innovative to retail and to the wireless industry.

 

2.  How did the concept for Viva Mòvil originate?

[MM] Several visionaries got together almost two years ago and began to think of a new way to retail mobile devices, with a particular attention on the growing population segment many refer to as the Modern Latino Consumer.  After many sessions, Viva Móvil was born as a place for everyone to shop for wireless products and services, but with a special “something” for the bicultural consumer that wants to transact in English or in Spanish, and that likes a truly welcoming, fun and efficient way to buy mobile products and services.

 

3.  Was it crucial to have Jennifer Lopez on board with the Viva Mòvil project?

[MM] Yes.  In addition to her amazing energy, Jennifer has provided guidance in critical elements surrounding the customer experience, which at the core is what makes shopping at Viva Móvil a positively different experience. She is not only an equity owner but also our Chief Creative Officer.

 

4.  What makes Viva Mòvil different from other wireless providers?

[MM] Viva Móvil is a Verizon Wireless Premium Retailer and as such provides to you and to all consumers the products and services that the carrier provides.  We recognize that the experience of owning a mobile device begins with the experience of buying the device.  Therefore, we have dedicated a lot of time to thinking about all the elements that make the experience unique and to implementing them in our stores.  The environment is modern and inviting, and you will find kid’s zone in every location.  We train our associates in technology, but more importantly on how to explain technology and how to marry what you need with what is available.  We emphasize to our associates the importance of getting to know our customers as only then can you truly be of service.  When brought together, all these elements allow us to provide to all consumers an experience we would like to think is unique and worth experiencing.

 

5.  How important was it to have Verizon as a partner?

[MM] Verizon is a great partner.  Their vision for service excellence is evident in everything they do, from the network’s superb reliability to the customer service interactions.  We are proud to have partnered with them and to sell their products and services.

 

6.  How will Viva Mòvil continue to grow in the future?

[MM] We will grow our footprint by adding new stores via a selective real estate analysis process and by expanding peoples’ knowledge of our digital assets.  Further growth is part of the plan and we will announce future locations at the right time.  Customers can also reach us on www.GetViva.com or through Facebook.

 

7.  What devices does Viva Mòvil offer to its customers?

[MM] At Viva Móvil you will find the latest smartphones and devices in Verizon’s 4G LTE network. There is a full range of products that gives all our customers the opportunity to find what is right for them. There are also devices that extend wireless service to the home.  And, you will find the accessories to protect, power up and enjoy your devices.

 

8.  Can you tell us about the environment of a Viva Mòvil store?

[MM] Of course.  In our stores you will see live devices that you can hold and experience firsthand.  The music in the store is always upbeat.  Go to one of the many audio experience zones, sit down and connect your device and enjoy your favorite music.  There is even a special scent that makes the entire experience fun and inviting.  And, if you are coming with little ones, let them play in the kid’s zone while you seat across from them and comfortably discuss with our associates your mobile needs.  They are truly great spaces in which to shop.

 

9.  Do you plan to rollout more Viva Mòvil stores? Maybe one in New Jersey?

[MM] More stores will be coming in New York, the greater Los Angeles area and then in the greater Miami area.  New Jersey is a real possibility for us.

 

10. Is there anything else you would like NJTechReviews readers to know about Viva Mòvil?

[MM] We truly enjoy what we do and therefore would like for everyone to visit our stores and learn about Viva Móvil first hand. Even if you are not in the market right now for your next device, or it isn’t time to upgrade, you should stop buy, enjoy the environment, see what we are all about and engage our associates.

    The prices are way too high, and the associates are not as knowleadgeble as you said. I do not see this company around for that long.
