Amazon has just released the 3rd generation of its Kindle Fire family: the Kindle Fire HDX. And I think it’ll be a product worth getting, especially for costumers who use Amazon’s services often. For example, costumers who have the Fire HDX can download Prime Instant videos so that they can watch the videos anywhere, anytime, even offline. And Amazon’s new Fire 3.0 “Mojito” OS has many new Amazon exclusive features, such as X-Ray and the Mayday button.
There’s also a new processor on the Fire HDX, the quadcore Snapdragon 800 processor that runs at 2.2GHz, making the 2 models of the Kindle Fire HDX, the 7″ and 8.9″, the only 2 tablets that run over 2GHz. The new processor with the updated graphics and larger memory, the Fire HDX will provide fast performance for all things demanded of it. The new Adreno 330 graphics engine give the Fire HDX four times the graphics performance of the previous generation of the Kindle Fire. That means fast, HD gaming for all your gaming pleasures.
The new Kindle Fire HDX boosts a 8MP rear facing camera and the title as the lightest large screen tablet at only 13.2 ounces. The battery is also improved with up to 17 hours of reading time on a charge, which is approximately the time it takes to fly to Shanghai from JFK.
Another great feature about the Fire HDX is the Mayday button. Like it’s name suggests its for when you have a issue with your device and you want immediate support. The Mayday service is available 24/7 365 and once you press the button, the goal is that a representative is there to help you in 15 seconds or less. Even if you don’t have an issue, you can use the Mayday service to just learn more about your device. Once you call you work in a co-pilot style to work through your device. www.amazon.com/mayday
Then there’s the Fire 3.0 “Mojito” OS. It brings along many new and exclusive Amazon features that are only available to the HDX. Also with apps, if the app runs on Android, it’ll run on the Fire 3.0 OS. With the HDX and the Fire 3.0, you can download Prime Instant videos, use the X-Ray function for music, TV shows, and movies, Second Screen functions, and more. All media content, over 27 million songs, movies, TV shows, apps, books, and magazines, are available for your pleasure.
The Kindle Fire HDX 7″ will go for $229 while the Fire HDX 8.9″ will go for $379. For 4G service from either AT&T or Verizon, just add $100. You can pre-order starting today and shipping will begin by October 18 for the HDX 7″ non-4G, November 7th for the HDX 8.9″ non-4G and November 14 and December 10th for their respective 4G models.
I am looking forward to the Kindle Fire HDX. I think it’ll be a great product, something new for the ever growing Tablet market. Time will show whether this will be a hit or a miss for Amazon.
