Big Apple Circus is back again for it’s all new 36th season with the show Luminocity! It’s opening shows in New York where at Lincoln Center on October 25th, but they are here till the 12th of January. With many different options of show times, they certainly have a date and time that will work with you! This year’s show takes place in the crossroads of the world, Times Square, a place with a lot of light. All of the seats in the tent are no more than 50 feet from the ring. John Kennedy Kane is back as the ringmaster and will be commanding the show again this year. There are performers from many different countries including Japan, Russia, and Mongolia. They dogs, juggling, clowns, pickpockets, high-wire performances, and much more! Big Apple Circus’s Luminocity is certainly not a show to miss. Venture within the hubbub at the heart of Gotham, where the restless tide of humanity rushes through canyons of skyscrapers and shoals of billboards: The dog-walker, whose rowdy pups perform amazing tricks! Businesswomen who arrange to meet, soaring high above on a double trapeze! The rube, a clown-prince among peers, celebrating the mirth of life! Revelry at New Year’s Eve, with teeter-board acrobats flying like fireworks! and a chic couple of wire-walkers suspended mid-air for the event! The humble repairman, climbing the ladder of his imagination! The mounted policewoman, directing a cavalcade of steeds! The flimflam man with his quicksilver moves! The food cart vendor, juggling his produce! Construction workers assembling athletic poses of incredible strength! The celebrated Big Apple Circus Band, under the baton of maestro Rob Slowik, provides the lively musical soundtrack, and your cosmopolitan Ringmaster, John Kennedy Kane, will conduct your tour through this luminous cityscape. ó From the US, John Kennedy Kane returns as ringmaster to guide you around this shimmering city–center of spectacles and wonder!
ó From Japan, 15-year old Ty Tojo, holder of three Guinness World Records, captivates the audience with his jaw–dropping juggling routine!
ó From Portugal, the Duo Guerrero (Werner Guerrero and Aura Cardinali) dance across the sky with their astounding high wire performance!
ó From the US, Rob Torres, the cheerful and beloved “International Man of Mirth,” returns to the Big Top with gleeful exhilaration!
ó From France, Pierre Ginet, the marvelous flimflam man, fuses comedy and crime to bewilder the audience with his amusing shenanigans!
ó From Russia, the robust Acro-Duo (Vitaliy Prikhodko and Alexei Anikine) bend gravity with balance and agility!
ó From Russia, the sensational Dosov Troupe burst from their teeter-board like fireworks into the firmament!
ó From the US, Jenny Vidbel warms the heart of spectators with her adorable ponies and animated puppies, with an added surprise or two!
ó From Canada, Daniel Cyr, the fabulous handyman, scrambles a ladder to nowhere but air!
ó From Mongolia, the graceful angels Davaasuren Altantsetseg and Narangua Altankhuyag arc through the heavens with daring acts of elegance!
Returning as Big Apple Circus director for a sixth season, Michel Barette presents a memorable show to entertain audiences of all ages. As choreographer, Vicki Davis returns to share her dancing delight step by step. Sarah Conly returns with her magnificent costume designs. Michael Deegan makes his Big Apple Circus debut as scenic designer. Also returning are sound designer JP Perreaux, who amplifies the Big Top with melodious vibes, and lighting designer Louis Morisset, who energizes the show with flashes of glistening illumination. As always, the Big Apple Circus Band captures the minds and hearts under the musical direction of Rob Slowik.

Performances of LUMINOCITY begin on Friday, October 25th and run for 129 shows through Sunday, January 12th under the Big Top at Damrosch Park in Lincoln Center (62nd Street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues), the second stop on the Big Apple Circus’s tour, following its world premiere engagement at Dulles Town Center, VA. Tickets for LUMINOCITY start at $25 and are available at www.bigapplecircus.org or by calling (888) 541-3750. The Circus Box Office, located in front of the Big Top, will open Tuesday, October 22nd; there is no service charge for tickets purchased at the box office. Hours of operation: Tuesday through Friday from 10 AM to 8 PM, and Saturday through Monday from 10 AM to 6 PM (or to 8 PM on weekend days when there is a 7 PM performance). The Big Top is heated in cold weather and air-conditioned in warm, for all-season comfort. The show’s running time is about two hours, including a fifteen-minute intermission.
