Earlier this year, Virgin Mobile announced that the Galaxy S 5 would be coming to the carrier. Now most of the time, Virgin Mobile doesn’t get the latest flagship devices right or soon after they come out. Their customers have been asking for the latest devices and flagships, especially on social media. As you can imagine, their customers were quite happy when they announced it was coming. Last week Virgin Mobile announced the device will be landing on May 19th and will be available for purchase starting that day. They have not yet announced a price, but BestBuy has just announced the price. They have just posted a pre-order page for the device and it will come in at $599.99. This is $100 cheaper than the device on MetroPCS. Keep in mind that the way a no-contract carrier like Virgin Mobile works is that you pay for the device at full price and then you get lower monthly rate. $599.99 for the Galaxy S 5 is one of the highest price for a device that the carrier has seen.
The full name of the device is the Virgin Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5 4G and the model number is SPHG900BVB. The Galaxy S 5 features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display, a 2.5GHz quad core processor, a 2800mAh battery, a 16 megapixel rear camera, a 2 megapixel front camera, 4G LTE, Android 4.4.2, S Health, and more. Virgin Mobile will most likely pre-load some widgets and a few applications on the device, but we are not expecting to see any carrier specific branding. It appears that Virgin Mobile will only carry the device in the “white” color. We can estimate that BestBuy should start shipping these on 19th of May when the device is officially available.
