Motorola has already updated and released a newer version of the Moto G at an event earlier today, but they also released a new smartphone. Their goal with their smartphones is to change the industry and make smartphones accessible to all, keep in mind they helped to revolutionize the flip-phone. Introducing the Moto E a new ultra affordable device that brings to the front the features that are most important, yes it is even more affordable than the Moto G. With the Moto E they hope to usher an end to the feature phone era and move fully into the smartphone movement.

The Moto E follows with the familiar designs we have seen from Motorola, since the Moto X which came out nine months ago. It has the curved back and the dimple with Motorola “M” logo. It is thicker than the Moto G and Moto X at 64.8 millimeters, but its footprint is smaller. The Moto E comes in at 142 grams as well. Like the Moto G, MotoMaker is not available for this device, but in order to customize it for your style, different shells are available. With Motorola Shells, you could get one for everyday of the week and do a full style change. At first when you buy the device you can get it in either black or white. The device is built-to-last and has some unique durability features, the display has Corning Gorilla Glass and it has a water-resistant splash guard all over the device.

In terms of hardware, you get a 4.3-inch qHD display with a resolution of 540 X 960 and 256 pixels per inch. It will have 4GB of internal storage, with around 2GB accessible to the user. Luckily, the Moto E has expandable storage via a micro SD card slot. It is powered by a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 200 with 1.2GHz dual-core A7 CPU Adreno 302 400MHz single-core GPU. While there is no front facing camera on the E, you do get a 5 megapixel back camera that records 720p video. For all day power, you get a 1980mAh battery and a built-in FM radio is available. It is running Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box with future upgrades promised. You get awesome applications from Motorola as well that will help you learn and love your new phone.

Overall, it is great to see that Motorola is expanding it’s lineup. The Moto E is available today from Motorola.com for a very low price of just $129.99 with no contract! It will be available in more than 40 countries through more than 80 carrier partners around the world over the next few weeks.
