LG has already announced the G Watch, but today they have unleashed the KizON, a new wearable for kids! It is designed for children, in primary school or in pre-school and it allows a way for parents to keep track of kids. While it doesn’t have a display, it does have a unique design that will appear to kids. It will be available in either pink, blue, or green, along with a wide range of accessories. It is made out of eco-friendly polythiourethane material and it is both stain and water-resistant. It does appear to have a speaker and call button, and it is fairly thin at 13.9-millimters. Dr. Jong-seok Park, the CEO of LG Electronics Mobile, said that they are committed to exploring more ways to incorporate wearable devices into consumers live and they hope to become a leader in the wearables market.

With the call button on the KizON, you get access to One Step Direct Call, which allows parents and children to easily communicated. You can also have the button set to a dial a pre-configured name, which can be changed via an application on a smartphone, like the LG G3. As a safety feature, after 10 seconds of ringing, the device will atomically connect the call and the parents will be able to listen through the built-in microphone. Via the built-in GPS, you can have the KizON set to provide parents with location updates throughout the day. Battery life plays a large role with any wearable and the KizON is no different, it features a 400mAh battery that is rated for 36 hours. Once the battery drops below a certain percentage that you set, say 25% it will alert the smartphones to let them to charge.

The LG KizON will make it debut in South Korea on July 10th, but in the third quarter of 2014 it will be landing in North America and Europe. Exact details on pricing and availability for the device will be announced locally and at a later date. In the mean time you can see a press release and a gallery below!

INTRODUCING LG KIZON, A WEARABLE DESIGNED FOR KIDS

LG’s Newest Wearable Gives Parents Peace of Mind

SEOUL, July 9, 2014 ― LG Electronics (LG) will extend the wearable experience to parents with children with its new KizON wristband. KizON is LG’s new wearable designed exclusively forpre-school and primary school children that offers parents a convenient way to keep track of their young children’s whereabouts. Utilizing GPS and Wi-Fi, KizON provides real-time location information allowing parents to track their children’s whereabouts on a smartphone or tablet.

With One Step Direct Call, parents can easily communicate with their children as well as providing them with information on the location of their children throughout the day. And parents aren’t the only ones who can use KizON to communicate with a loved one. With one press of the One Step Direct Call button, children can also dial a pre-configured phone number, which can be changed at any time through a smartphone or tablet running Android 4.1 or higher. If the child fails to answer a call from any of the pre-configured numbers within ten seconds, KizON will automatically connect the call to let the parents listen through the built-in microphone. Another important function of KizON is Location Reminder, which gives adults the ability to pre-set the device to provide location alerts at specific times throughout the day.

Battery life for KizON is rated for 36 hours and parents will be alerted via their smartphones when the battery on KizON falls below 25 percent. The band is constructed of eco-friendly polythiourethane (PTU) material that is water-resistant as well as stain resistant. A wide range of accessories featuring popular animation characters will be available for KizON, which comes in three attractive colors: blue, pink and green.

“Children as well as the elderly are ideal customers for wearable technologies,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Wearables allow us to stay connected without the worry of losing a device or the inconvenience of having to carry a large item in a pocket. At LG, we’re committed to exploring more ways to incorporate wearable devices into consumers lives in line with our vision to become a leader in wearables.”

KizON will make its public debut in South Korea on July 10 before its introduction in North American and Europe in the third quarter of this year. Details of availability and price will be announced locally.
