Season 6 of Archer has been a whirlwind of an adventure, and not mention it has been an epic one and tonight, April 2nd 2015, at 10PM on FX Networks, Season 6 comes to a close. Last week we ended with a cliff hanger in episode 12 Drastic Voyage: Part I, and tonight we get the conclusion with Drastic Voyage: Part II. This season finale review will not be like our other Archer reviews, we will not be doing a play-by-play and describing the full plot, as this review will be live before the episode has concluded. Instead we will focus on this season, and the rapid changes we have seen through out it; with that being said there will be some spoilers below.
Archer Season 6 moves more away from the style of mission and villains, we have seen in previous seasons. Even with Season 5 we saw them move away from espionage and go in to drug dealing, but with the start of Season 6 we learn that Archer, Lana, Mallory, and the rest of the gang are now working with the CIA. And by the end of the episode we realize that the mission hasn’t gone the way it was planned too, we also realize that throughout the season the focus has shifted.
We see Archer showcasing the relationships between its characters in a more important light, for instance the story line between Archer and Lana has been very entertaining and continues to be up until the final scene of Season 6. We see Archer putting his hero shoes on and going out and saving the crew, mainly himself and Pam, from the white blood cells. Going inside the human body as the big adventure and using it as the closing to the season was a very interesting idea, and it made for a great story line.
With all of this being said, the episode concludes with some interesting news and ends the season in a very unique way. It seems that the CIA, along with Slater and SAC Holly, have given the gang one last shot and it seems they have blown it. But it closes with Archer saying that he has a few ideas and pointing out that the CIA might have been trying to get rid of them since the beginning. Any guesses on what will happen to the crew next? Season 7 will be coming soon, most likely in 2016 and myself, the NJTechReviews team, and Archer fans everywhere will surely be eagerly awaiting it. But, feel free to start speculating in the comments below and on our social outlets. We would like to thank FX Networks for providing us with screeners for Archer.
