T-Mobile enhances it’s Family Plan by offering 10GB per line

FamilyPlanMath

T-Mobile is making another Un-Carrier move, as they have just announced some enhancements to their Family Plan. They will now be offering 10GB of 4G LTE for each and every member of the family. They are targeting AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon in terms of “shared data” plans now, as well as with overage fees. T-Mobile is also calling out Verizon Wireless for there limited $80 shared data plan, we have reached out to Verizon for comment on this. Below you can see Verizon’s response to T-Mobile’s latest Family Plan announcements.

“Great plans always start with a great network, and our plans match the way customers use wireless service.  Sharing, not only among family members but across devices, is the way wireless works today.”-Andrew Testa, Verizon Wireless

The new Family Plan from T-Mobile is pretty simple, it works by providing each member of the family with 10GB of data for themselves, there is no shared data. So, let’s say you are getting a 2 person plan, each of the family members will get 10GB of data for themselves, for $100 a month. This plan will also include Unlimited Talk and Text, as well access to T-Mobile’s new Mobile without Borders offering. This provides you with calling, texting and high-speed data in the United States, as well as Canada and Mexico at no extra cost. With this two person setup, each extra line will cost just $20 and will provide that new line with 10GB of data.

To sweeten deal, from now until Labor Day, you can add a fourth line for free with no expiration date. This means that a four person count can get 10GB of data for each line, unlimited talking, and unlimited texting for just $120 a month. This comes down to about $30 per line and it does undercut the other carriers, but it is a limited time deal.

T-Mobile’s new Family Plan will be launching tomorrow July 15th, and starting tomorrow every Simple Choice customer can switch to the 10GB family offer and with T-Mobile’s Un-contract, they can keep their plan as long as they stay on it. It will be interesting to see how the other big three carriers will respond to T-Mobile latest announcement.

One last thought, keep in mind that coverage can vary by area, so before you hop ship from AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint make sure that T-Mobile has good enough service in your area.
