Snapchat is making the biggest change to the social media messaging platform in the history of it. Today the company introduced Chat 2.0, which truly makes Snapchat a worthwhile tool to use for messaging. Companies and services like Whats App, Facebook Messenger, and KIK will have to start innovating more in order to keep up.
Chat 2.0 takes all the different parts of Snapchat and lets you use them when messaging your friends. You can send video, audio, send GIFs, and even send exclusive stickers. With video and audio, you can have a live conversation or call with them. It brings many new features to the application and then made viewing stories easier than ever.
The video and audio features are neat, as you can leave voice mails or a video recording for your friends. You can also have a live audio call or live video call with them. While the user interface is not the best and there is a learning curve, they do have the basic features ready for public use.
Stickers are a big deal, Snapchat says they are laughing with over 200 of them. And they say that sometime it is easier to send a sticker then to have a full on conversation. Granted some of them are pretty neat, but it does seem like they are second to the game with this. Especially since Facebook’s Messenger application added stickers a few months ago.
Snapchat is now betting big on messaging, hoping that you will use their platform over the many others you most likely have within a hands reach.
