Last year, Apple unveiled its latest innovation for portable computing. This of course was the MacBook, not the MacBook Air or the MacBook Pro, but the thin and light MacBook. It comes in thinner than the MacBook Air and has a 12-inch Retina display. Today Apple, announced a refreshed model of the 12-inch MacBook and they even added a new color option.
I for one am very happy to see an update come, especially when it doesn’t come with a price hike. Even better the MacBook now comes in four colors; Space Grey, Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold. Yes, I did say that, the 12-inch Macbook now comes in Rose Gold. This is the main difference to the design of the laptop, as it is still crazy thin and light.
Along with adding a new color to the 12-inch MacBook, today’s refresh also upgrade some of the hardware on the inside. For starters, it now has the sixth-generation dual-core Intel Core M processors up to 1.3 GHz, with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1 GHz. The RAM speed has been upgraded too 1866 MHz. The base $1299 model has a 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core M3 processor, while the $1,599 model has a 1.3GHz Intel Core M5 processor. You can even upgrade the processor further and get an Intel Core M7.
In addition to upgrading the processor, Apple has added Intel HD Graphics 515 and faster PCIe-based flash storage. They are saying this should deliver up to 25 percent faster graphics performance and will make everyday tasks go faster. A bigger battery is in store for the 2016 12-inch MacBook as well; giving you 10 hours of internet use and 11 hours of video playback.
The new 12-inch MacBook is available today from Apple.com and Apple Retail Stores.
