Along with refreshing the 12-inch MacBook this week, Apple is also updating another portable computer. In fact, an update has arrived for the original ultra-portable computer. The MacBook Air is getting an update this week, even though it is in a weird place in its lifeline. With that being said, if you want an 11-inch or 13-inch thin computer, the Air is a solid option. But if you want a truly ultra-portable experience, the 12-inch MacBook is what you should be looking at.
The MacBook Air is not getting a full redesign or a whole new hardware setup. Instead Apple is giving the Air a new standard amount of RAM and this is the processing power for the computer. 8GB of memory is now standard across all configurations of the 13-inch MacBook Air. Unfortunately this update is not coming to the smaller 11-inch MacBook Air.
The updated 8GB configured models of the 13-inch MacBook Air are available now with no price increase.
