Apple’s long-awaited AirPods are now available, and they are still awesome. I got my order in this morning, but the downside here is that they are still widely popular. Ship times are now at four weeks, although they were delivering as early as next week.
Currently, you can order AirPods from Apple’s online store. But next week they will be available in small supply amount from Apple’s physical retail store, authorized resellers, and carrier locations. They also are not too expensive at only $159 in the United States.
These are the first fully wireless headphone’s on the market, and they are cool. When pairing with an iPhone, the process is seamless, as the W1 Bluetooth chip is found inside. They have a similar design to Apple’s Ear Pods minus the wires. They are two separate “pods” one for each ear. Each one of them has a battery, plenty of sensors, a speaker, and a microphone.
The sensor aspect is unique, as they AirPods will know when to play music and when to pause it. You can also access Siri and other pertinent information like battery life and volume with a simple tap.
They will sync and work with virtually all of your Apple devices– including your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and even the Apple TV. Battery life is a bit unusual; you get 5 hours of listening and more than 24 hours of listening with the charging case.
I am very excited for Apple AirPod’s and will report back once I get a chance to play around with them.
