Following the unveiling of the Xbox One X and Forza 7, Xbox president Phil Spencer announced that 42 new games would be shown off the Microsoft event at this year’s E3. The first game to be shown following this announcement was Metro Exodus, which is set to be released in 2018 on both the Xbox One family of systems and Microsoft Windows 10. The announcement was made in the form of a five minute gameplay trailer composed of supposedly in-game footage, which looks fairly gorgeous.
From what was shown, it would appear that this game follows in the footsteps of the previous two games, Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, taking place in post-apocalyptic Russia. Like it’s predecessors, Exodus is a first person shooter with some horror and survival elements, but unlike previous games will take place above ground. Based on the footage, three weapons are confirmed for the game: a knife, a futuristic gun, and a crossbow.
The game is set to run in 4k, as all Xbox One X games are. Little else was stated about the game, as there was no speaker before or after the announcement trailer. The footage can be easily found on Youtube, but no official uploads have been made yet.
