This is one has some unique features to it. You will find out more in our full review. Now, let’s get started with the full reviews of the LG Doubleplay!

Design And Hardware

The LG Doubleplay is good phone. It is not the thinnest phone on the market but, this will not bother most people. It is unique because it has 2 screens and a full slide-out QWERTY Keyboard. More on that later. The dimensions of the Doubleplay are 4.8 inches by 2.5 inches by 0.63 inch thick, making it one of the larger devices on the market. It weighs 6.7 ounces, so it is not that heavy. The design is not complete square it has curved edges, making it look smaller. On the top of the screen we have the T-Mobile logo and the earpiece. Under the screen we have the normal 4 android buttons, menu, home, back, and search. On the left hand side you have your micro USB port. On the right hand side you have your volume rocker. Nothing on the bottom but, on the top we have the power/sleep button and the regular headphone jack. On the back you have a speaker, LED Flash, and metal strip going down the back. On the metal strip you have your 5 mega-pixel camera, LG’s logo and the Doubleplay logo. The slide out keyboard comes out from the left hand side of the phone. It has a screen in the middle of it and the keyboard is on either side of that screen. This makes it a very unique phone. This screen is a 2-inch QVGA display, it has pretty good quality. The purpose of putting 2 screens on this device is so you can multitask. The main screen on the front of the device is a 3.5-inch HVGA TFT display with a resolution of 320 X 480. The screen is great the colors are very vibrant! In terms of speed, the LG Doubleplay has a 1GHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor inside of it. It is also running on T-Mobile’s 4G Network. In terms of space it has 2GB of internal storage and comes with a 2GB microSD card. It can hold up to a 32GB microSD card. Some of its other features are WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, Mobile Hotspot for up to 5 devices, and more. The LG Doubleplay comes in a  grayish-silver color. Overall, the design and hardware in the LG Doubleplay are great!

Operating System

The LG Doubleplay is running Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with LG’s User Interface on top of it. It runs very fast on the LG Doubleplay thanks to its 1GHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor. As with most of the Android phones on the market, it comes pre-loaded with many apps. These include the Google App’s Suite, YouTube, Group Text, 411 & More, Bejeweled 2, Blio, Calculator, Cloud Text, Car Home, Drive Smart, dT Sync, Facebook, Twitter, Lookout Security, Music, Polaris Office, Sim City Deluxe, T-Mobile Suite Of Apps, Smart Share, Tetris, WiFi Calling/Sharing, and much more! It does come pre-loaded with a quite a few, that many people will enjoy. The Screen located on the slide out keyboard, is quite useful. The reason for both screens is multitasking. For instance when suing a web browser, if you want to go to a different window you have open or open a website you have bookmarked. You can pull it up the on this screen while looking at the page you are currently on, using the main screen. It also has 8 customizable shortcuts, all come in very handy. It is great that you can customize them to your liking. Overall, Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with LG’s User Interface works great on the LG Doubleplay!

Bottom Line

The LG Doubleplay is a great smartphone! People who like to text will absolutely fall in love with the Doubleplay. While the split keyboard does take some time to get used to, in the end you will enjoy it. Having 2 touch screens on a phone is great, the new multitasking features that the Doubleplay has, make it much easier to use your phone the way you want to. It also runs really fast thanks to its 1GHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor and the fact it is running on T-Mobile’s 4G Network. The camera is not to shabby either, it is great as far as cell phone camera’s go. The pre-loaded app let you sue the phone right out of the box. I would recommend the LG Doubleplay to anyone who loves to text but, also wants a touch screen. The LG Doubleplay is also priced just right, with a 2-year contract it will cost you only $99.99! However, without a contract the price is more steep, at $399.99 . You Can Get The LG Doubleplay From T-Mobile, By Clicking Here. We would like to thank LG for providing us with a copy of the “LG Doubleplay”.
