UBISOFT® CHALLENGES GAMERS TO A FUN FITNESS ALTERNATIVE WITH SHAPE UP

LOS ANGELES – June 9, 2014 – Today at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Ubisoft challenged gamers to ditch the old, boring workouts and jumpstart their routines with the new video game Shape Up. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with Ubisoft Barcelona, Shape Up will be available worldwide exclusively on Kinect for Xbox One the week of November 9th, 2014.

Shape Up combines a foundation of proven fitness methods with entertaining and rewarding workout routines displayed in a unique arcade style. Each of the three game modes keeps players engaged and motivated with quirky, points-driven fitness challenges. The Quick Play Mode features 90 second rapid-fire training bursts that turn the chore of working out into an exciting experience. These quick fitness activities include 12 practice sessions for a more intense focus on muscle building and cardio, with the guidance of in-game coaches for better efficiency. The Training Quest Mode blends those exciting challenges together into individual 4-week programs that target increased lean body mass and reducing body fat. Each quest is designed to take gamers on an epic adventure for 45 minutes each week and ends with a final boss battle as the ultimate workout reward.

“Workouts can be mundane so it was a real challenge to adapt all of these crazy activities into exercises that are truly effective,” said Charles Huteau, Creative Director of Shape Up. “Shape Up is set to revolutionize fitness games by proving that the more fun you have while working out, the longer you’ll stick with it to achieve better results.”

Using the Kinect camera, players will have a head to toe image of themselves projected into the game which will aid in keeping track of their workouts and calories burned each session.  The innovative online mode uses rePLAY technology to push gamers to never work out alone. After recording their activity sessions in the game, they can then be shared with friends to workout alongside each other and even challenge them to beat their highest score.
