Facebook has just officially released Slingshot a new application for mobile from their creative labs. Slingshot will let you quickly share moments, no matter the size, with as many or as little people as you want. It is available for download today, see if it is available on your device here: http://www.sling.me!
While when you first open the application you see that it really does resemble Snapchat, I mean it first opens you up to the camera, you can take the photo, and then you customize it. It is fundamentally different, as it is not just about sharing quick videos or photos, but in essence it is about sharing moments with your friends. Ultimately, they want you to snap back and not just view that photo for one time, this done by making you send them back a photo see what they sent you. Slingshot requires you to sling to see the sling that you friend sent you, it requires participation from both sides. Let’s say you have many slings from many different people, well you can then sling one image to all of your contacts at once, which keeps the conversation going. Being able to blast out a photo or rather a memory or a moment of your day to all your friends at once, is a very unique premise behind Slingshot and shows that Facebook is the source behind it. It seems like a really fun application and it might just bring some try competition to Snapchat.
