Acer Adds The 5th Generation Intel Processors Across It’s Mobile Computer Lines!

Acer is making some large updates in speed and performance across its mobile computer lines. They are adding 5th Generation Intel Core processors and Ultrafast 802.11ac wireless! All of these upgrades will deliver enhanced performance, speed, and reliability. Specifically the processor upgrade will deliver improved graphics and battery life. These upgrades are coming to the Aspire R 13 convertible notebooks, Aspire S7 Ultrabooks, and the Switch 2-in-1 notebook.

Let’s start off with the Aspire R 13 convertible notebooks, this line can be used in multiple ways. It is quite portable at just 1.5 kilograms and only a thickness of 1-inch. Thanks to the Acer Ezel Aero Hinge, you can rotate the display a full 180 degrees which allows you to use the laptop in different modes. These modes are Notebook, Ezel, Stand, Pad, Tent and Display; The modes help to blend the idea of a notebook and a tablet together. You can get the 13-inch display in either a super high-resolution WQHD 2560 x 1440 or full high-definition FHD 1920 x 1080 touch screen display. Both of these options include a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which will add some durability. It is powered by the new 5th Generation Intel Core processors and 802.11ac wireless, plus you get up to 1TB SSD of storage and up to 8GB of RAM. The Aspire R 13 notebooks will be available worldwide this month, January 2014, with pricing and availability being announced for each region at a later date.

The Aspire S7 ultrabook is getting upgrade with the 5th Generation Intel Core processors, ultrafast 802.11 ac wireless technology and a bonus upgrade of up to 10 hours of battery life. The new 5th Generation processors are paired with up to 8GB of RAM and solid state drives. You still get the razor-thin ultrabook design that S7 users know and love, still being just 0.51-inches thick and only 2.87 pounds. The touchscreen has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and comes in either a Wide Quad High-Definition display or a Full HD display. The new Acer Aspire S7 with these upgrades will be landing in January with exact pricing, availability, and specifications being announced by each region at a later date.

Lastly the Aspire Switch 12 is another model in the Switch line, it comes with five different modes to let the user blend the idea of a tablet and a computer together. The new Intel Core M processor will let the Switch 12 have a large reduction in power consumption. Which means an increase in battery life and overall performance, Acer is saying you can up to 8 hours of video playback now. The Switch 12 is the most tablet like of these mobile computing devices getting the upgrade, you can use a keyboard and mouse or your finger natively with Windows 8.1 on this device. You still get a 12.5-inch HD display with the ZeroGap technology and a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. For wireless connectivity, Acer went with a 2X2 antenna setup which should provide a faster wireless experience, plus you get micro USB 3.0 and micro HDMI ports. Acer delivers 5th Generation Intel Core Processors and latest ultrafast wireless networking across mobile product lines

LAS VEGAS (Jan. 3, 2015) Acer today announced it will be expanding support for 5th Generation Intel® CoreTM processors across its mobile lines, adding the CPU to its innovative line of Aspire R 13 convertible notebooks and award-winning Aspire S7 Ultrabooks. The Acer Aspire R 13 and S7 will incorporate the newest 802.11ac wireless specification for fast and more reliable Internet connections. The 5th Generation Intel Core processors have been designed to improve performance, graphics and battery life over previous versions. The ultrafast 802.11ac wireless networking standard is up to 3 times faster than the previous generation spec (802.11n) and increases network speed, range and reliability, enabling more people to use different wireless devices and simultaneously stream content with less interference(1).

The Aspire R 13 Series, S7 Ultrabook and previously announced Switch 12 2-in-1 notebook will be on display at Pepcom’s Digital Experience! Event on Jan. 5th at The Mirage in Las Vegas.

Aspire R 13 Series – Flexible Convertible Design with Multiple Ways of Use

Less than 1 inch thin and just over 3 pounds (1.5 kg), the lightweight Aspire R 13 Series features the Acer Ezel Aero HingeTM that enables the 13.3-inch display to rotate 180-degrees so it can be used in numerous ways, giving it the productivity features of a traditional clamshell notebook with the convenience of a tablet. The six modes include: Notebook, Ezel, Stand, Pad, Tent and Display; it is designed for those who don’t want to give up a traditional notebook design, but want more options and flexibility.

In addition to 5th Generation Intel Core processors and 802.11ac wireless(1), they offer up to 1TB(2) Solid State Drives with RAID-0 support and up to 8GB of memory for fast and responsive performance, making them ideally suited for work and entertainment. The new Aspire R 13’s improved processor doesn’t just make it more powerful, it also extends its battery life. With up to 10 hours(3) (FHD model) of on-the-road power, it can go all day.

Providing one of the best viewing experiences on the market today, the Aspire R 13 notebooks also feature super high-resolution (WQHD) (2560 x 1440) or full high-definition (FHD) (1920 x 1080) touch screen displays; the screen and the top lid are both protected by Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3. Zero Air Gap Technology on both display types reduces reflections and ensures vivid, lifelike visuals, while FHD models feature IPS technology for wide viewing angles. In addition, anti-fingerprint technology helps reduce smudges, Corning’s newly developed AR/ETC technology minimizes reflections and improves the display’s contrast, and a built-in light sensor automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness to enhance the screen image. Both display configurations can also be used with an optional Acer Active Pen for drawing, creating and collaborating.

Other features professionals and consumers alike will enjoy include Dolby Digital Plus Home Theatre for cinematic surround sound, and Acer Purified Voice, for superior voice recognition and audio processing. The Windows 8.1 convertible is also SkypeTM certified, which ensures webcam/video chats, conference calls, VoIP calls and voice commands are always crystal clear.

Aspire S7 Ultrabook – Super Thin and Sleek, and now Faster than Ever

Acer’s award-winning notebook, the Aspire S7 Ultrabook with Windows 8.1, will also be refreshed with 5th Generation Intel Core processors, ultrafast 802.11 ac wireless technology(1), and up to 10 hours(3) (FHD model) battery life for all day use.

Featuring an all-aluminum unibody design and as thin as a tablet, the razor-thin Aspire S7 Ultrabook is exceptionally thin and light, yet resilient and durable, even though it is just .51 inches thin and a mere 2.87 pounds.

The touchscreen display on the S7 is covered by Corning® Gorilla® Glass 2, which tilts back a full 180 degrees, allowing the display to be used flat against a table or desk, much as one would use a tablet; a hotkey rotates the view 180 degrees making it easy to share the screen with others. A dual torque hinge on the lid creates the perfect amount of resistance for touch control.

Models include super high-resolution WQHD (Wide Quad High-Definition) displays with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 or FHD IPS displays with resolution of 1920 x 1080. All models include 8GB of memory, Solid State Drives (128GB(2) or 256GB(2)) in a RAID 0 configuration for extremely fast read/write times. Acer Green Instant On technology delivers fast boot and resume times.

Other key features include Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) technology that allows for connecting wirelessly to a TV, Acer Purified.Voice, “TwinAir” cooling, an innovative thermal design that keeps the Ultrabook cool and comfortable to use.

Aspire Switch 12 – Easily Transitions between Five Distinct Modes

The Aspire Switch 12 with five modes offers a compelling combination of performance and stunning display graphics. The new Intel processor will deliver a significant reduction in power consumption, allowing the Switch 12 to run up to 8 hours(3) during video playback. Its fan-less design makes it whisper quiet, further complementing its reduced power consumption.

The centerpiece of Acer’s versatile 2-in-1 Aspire Switch 12 with Windows 8.1 is its ability to easily transition between a notebook, pad, display, tent and desktop via its unique kickstand design that features a magnetic and latch-less detachable keyboard. The keyboard includes a pointing stick, and can work connected or wirelessly for full-sized typing comfort. Users can also navigate via the touchscreen and with an optional Acer Active Pen.

Its 12.5-inch Full HD (1920×1080) display with IPS technology and Zero Air Gap technology provides wide viewing angles with vivid colors and detail, even in bright sunlight. For added durability, the Aspire Switch 12’s display is built next generation Corning Gorilla Glass and treated with an anti-fingerprint coating that reduces unsightly smudges.

Its 2×2 wireless antenna technology processes data at up to twice the speed of traditional single antenna solutions by forming a multi-input/multi-output (MIMO) setup for fast and reliable throughput. It also comes with micro USB 3.0 and micro HDMI ports.
