Back at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, NJTechReviews reported that Fossil would be entering the connected device or wearable category. We knew little information then, but we did know they would be working with Google and Intel, and we finally have some more information. Earlier today on stage at Intel’s 2015 Developer Forum conference, Fossil showed off several connected products, including an Android Wear smartwatch.
We don’t have firm pricing, availability, features, or even how many products will be released. But what we do know is that Fossil has several products coming to market in time for the upcoming holiday season. One of them appears to be an Android Wear smartwatch with a round face, but it appears to be taking some cues from the Moto 360. As it will have a similar not full circle display, some people have taken to calling it a flat tire display.
In terms of physical design, they will most likely look great and showcase the build quality that Fossil is known for. They will most likely be releasing a few different connected devices, like a classic watch with a few connected features, a connected band or piece of jewelry, and then of course an Android Wear smartwatch. These devices should be available in a plethora of colors, as well as your choice of a leather or a metal band.
We have reached out to Fossil Group for comment and hopefully we will hear back soon to confirm if this speculation can be turned into reality. What we know as of now, is that Fossil is planning to release several connected devices in time for the holiday season, including an Android Wear smartwatch. If we back track to the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, we know that the internals will have some help from both Google and Intel, as Fossil has partnered with them!
