Apple has put together a newly published webpage which contains a handy list of which cars offer CarPlay. This comes the same day as iOS 9.3 is being previewed and seeded to developers. This new update for iOS device like the iPhone and iPad brings Night Mode, new 3D Tough features, and more. But it also brings some new features to CarPlay, which is Apple’s take on the connected car and directly competes with Android auto, and other infotainment systems.
Knowing which vehicles have CarPlay as an option is key and having it all one place will make it much easier. Manufactures like Audi, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Volkswagen, Volvo, and many others offer this connected car system.
The system as it is now, has your connect your iPhone to the car via a lightning connector. From there you will notice a very similar interface that shows you several icons. These include Podcasts, Phone, Messages, Music, Maps, and more. There are several third-party applications that offer support for CarPlay as well.
Coming in iOS 9.3, there will be new support for Apple Music in CarPlay, for starters you will be able to see the New and For You tabs from the interface within the car. For Maps, the Nearby feature which shows you restaurants, gas stations, convenience stars, and pharmacies with the touch of a button will make it’s way to the system. You can also expect a number of speed improvements and bug fixes for the platform.
