Batter up! In this Sunday’s episode of Family Guy, “Bookie of the Year,” Peter and Lois Griffin encourage Chris to try out for his high school’s baseball team in order to help him deal with his recent anger issues. He soon becomes an all-star pitcher, featured on television and beloved by all of Quahog. However, things go awry when it turns out that Peter is betting on his behalf.
This episode is the second episode of the 15th season and is dedicated to Frank Sinatra, Jr. who plays an important role in the subplot featuring Brian and Stewie. The baby-dog duo find an abandoned restaurant and turn it into a high-class Italian restaurant where “the food’s not great, but drink enough and you won’t know.” We are treated to a lovely musical number in the style of the late Frank Sinatra.
“Bookie of the Year” has all of the classic hijinx and gags that the award-winning cartoon is known for. In addition to the rousing restaurant musical number, the audience also gets to hear the ballpark classic “Centerfield” by John Fogerty that plays in a montage of Chris excelling at his latest hobby. We even get to see what Mr. Met’s head looks like in the shower!
Overall, the animation, story line, and visual humor is in line with many current cartoons of its kind. Fans of Family Guy will enjoy this episode, however; the plot progression is a bit slow and more of the characters could be utilized to make this episode better.
Family Guy’s newest episode is sure to get a lot of laughs when it airs this Sunday at 9:00 PM, only on Fox!
