Microsoft wants to tap into Google’s Chromebook market, and the technology giant has an event in a few hours. The #MicrosoftEDU event kicks off later this morning, and we are expecting to see both software and hardware. The software is a cloud version of Windows 10, which could go after Google’s Chrome OS. And several Twitter users, @evleaks and @h0x0d, have given us a look at the “Surface Laptop.”
This will most likely be the flagship Windows 10 cloud laptop, similar to the Google Pixel. Which is a super high-end Chromebook with an impressive display and a very high price tag. It also appears to be quite slim with a 13-inch PixelSense display– And while this is a cool name it might just be the marketing arm of Microsoft talking. It appears to be made in four different colors all featuring a small number of ports.
No word on pricing, but it is safe to say we will see a cloud version of Windows 10 tomorrow. And while the “Surface Laptop” might not be the most affordable, chances are it will lead the way for third-party devices to be announced soon after. Especially if this is an event geared for schools and students, they want to offer these devices for an affordable price tag.
