The craziest announcement from WWDC 2017 would have to be the iMac Pro, which is billed as the most powerful Mac ever. iMac Pro appears to be a beast of a computer and the specifications prove it. Even better it comes in a Space Grey color exclusively– including a Magic Trackpad, Magic Mouse, and Magic Keyboard in that Space Grey color. It is workstation power computer in an all-in-one size, let’s dive in.A big point I should outline is that the iMac Pro will not shop until December and that it does start at $4,999. This price is less than the current Mac Pro by quite a bit and appears to be in line with other content creator geared desktop machines, like the Surface Studio from Microsoft. The iMac Pro has a 27-inch 5120 X 2880 5K display and should look gorgeous. The graphics performance only gets better with a Radeon Pro Vega GPU, with either 16GB or 32GB of dedicated H.

The iMac Pro has a 27-inch 5120 X 2880 5K display and should look gorgeous. The graphics performance only gets better with a Radeon Pro Vega GPU, with either 16GB or 32GB of dedicated HBM2 memory. This GPU allows for 11 teraflops of single precision or 22 teraflops of half precision–put simply it can handle almost anything thrown at it.

Inside the iMac Pro, is the latest Intel Xeon processors with either 8, 10, or 18 Cores. Plus it can have either 32GB, 64GB, or 128GB RAM for a fast experience. With all of this hardware inside, Apple has designed an all-flash architecture and all-new thermal design to keep the computer cool. In the base model, you will find a 1TB SSD, but this all-in-one can be configured with a 2TB or 4TB SSD as well.

Also, good news for creators all around is that Apple kept the SDXC Card Slot, along with a 10GB Ethernet port, four Thunderbolt 3 ports, a USB 3.0 port, and a headphone jack. The iMac Pro can output to two 5K displays and two high-performance RAID arrays through the Thunderbolt 3 ports.

For many consumers out there, December can not come soon enough. The iMac Pro will certainly be a beast of a computer and that Space Grey color looks all so sweet. Pro creators are now all setting their eyes on the new Mac Pro and displays which should come after this launch. As of now the iMac Pro should land in December and will start at $4,999.
