Nokia Lumia 710 Review

Nokia Lumia 710 Review - NJTechReviews

Our friends at Nokia have sent us the Lumia 710 for us to review! It is their first Windows Phone for the United State’s market. It runs on T-Mobile and comes in at a very low price with contract. Nokia is re-entering the US Market in a very strong way, they already have the Lumia 710 and more devices are on the on their way. Now, let’s get started with the full review of the Nokia Lumia 710!

Design

The Nokia Lumia 710 features a great design. Nokia has a great design team, and there work is found on Lumia 710. The device comes in either black or white. On the front of the device you have the front speaker, Nokia logo, T-Mobile logo, and the back, home, and search buttons. The buttons slightly raised off the surface of the front. On the left hand side you can find the volume rocker and camera button. On the top of the device you have the micro USB port, headphone jack, and the power/sleep button. On the back of the device you will find the 5 mega-pixel camera with LED flash, Nokia logo, speaker, microphone, and the Nokia 710 logo. If you take the back cover off you will find the battery and the T-Mobile SIM Card slot. Keep in mind that Lumia 710 has no micro SD card slot. I don’t see this being much of an issue, as the phone is geared for first-time smartphone users. On the bottom of the phone toward the left hand side you will find 2(two) holes, this were you can put a lanyard/charm through the device. This way you can personalize or pull it out of your bag quickly. When holding the phone is fits very nice into your hand and is very comfortable to hold. The design of the Nokia Lumia 710 is very nice.

Hardware

Now, we move onto the specs on Lumia 710. It has a 3.7-inch ClearBlack LCD display with a resolution of 800 x 480. The quality of the screen is pretty good, in terms of viewing angles most of them are good. Although it does get washed-out if you look at it from a very bad angle. You get 8GB of internal space and that is what you are limited too. There is no micro SD card slot on this device. The Lumia 710 is a pretty snappy device, it has a 1.4GHz Snapdragon Processor with 512MB of RAM. This keep’s the device running pretty quickly, and then of course you have 4G speeds from T-Mobile. In terms of speeds on this device, they were pretty well-rounded. For download our average was 2.5Mbps and our upload average was 1Mbps. We have around 3-4 bars of coverage from T-Mobile in our area. Keep in mind that Data speeds vary depending on how good T-Mobile’s service is in your area. Call quality was superb on the Lumia 710, we could hear them loud and clear and the other end could hear us just as well. On the back of the device you have a 5 mega-pixel camera with LED flash that records 720pHD video. On the front you have a VGA camera. While still images could be better, video quality is great. If you are the kind of person who uses the camera a lot, it is not the best option for you. As quality could be better, but for the first-time smartphone user I don’t see why you couldn’t go for this device. Nokia has done a great job with the Hardware on the Lumia 710.

Operating System

The Nokia Lumia 710 is running on Windows Phone Mango(7.5). Windows Phone Mango is the same experience, for the most part, on every single Windows Phone device. While the applications may differ, the design and flow of the operating system does not. The Lumia 710 and Windows Phone Mango are a perfect match, the OS runs perfectly on this device. There is almost no lag time and it is seamlessly integrated in with the device. Nokia and T-Mobile have put great apps on this device, and I would not consider them bloatware what so ever. All of the pre-loaded applications come in very handy. For starters if your into sports, you will love the exclusive ESPN app that comes on the Lumia 710. You can get live scores from the games and much more. You also get Nokia Drive, but the downside is you have to download a lot of stuff for it work fully. But one you get past the downloading you will end up loving this great Navigation tool. Overall, Nokia did a great job with the operating system on the Lumia 710.

Bottom Line

The Nokia Lumia 710 for T-Mobile is a good smartphone. It is meant for people making the switch to smart device, and it is perfect for that. However, if you want a Windows Phone device do not hesitate to get the Lumia 710. It will work good for the most part. If you love having a great camera on the back of your phone, you can find better devices on T-Mobile. Ah but, if your okay with not having the bets camera out there, then I see no reason why you shouldn’t at least consider the Nokia Lumia 710. T-Mobile’s Online Store is offering a great deal, the Nokia Lumia 710 is free with a 2-year contract through March 1 2012! After March 1 this deal will no longer be offered, so be sure to go to their site and get it while you can for this great price! Usually the Nokia Lumia 710 will cost you $49.99 with a 2-year contract or $349.99 with no contract. You Can Get Your Nokia Lumia 710 From T-Mobile, By Clicking Here. We would like to thank Nokia for providing us with a copy of the “Nokia Lumia 710 For T-Mobile”.
