YouTube has been rumored to be entering the streaming service market for quite some time and with the announcement of YouTube Music Key Beta they are officially in the game. It is not a traditional streaming service, YouTube has put their own spin on it. Simply the YouTube Music Key Beta will give you ad-free viewing, offline viewing, and background viewing. Not only do you get access to the millions of songs on YouTube, but you also get access too Google Play Music. The subscription monthly service is currently in beta and is invite only, but it will be starting at the promotional price of $7.99 a month and it will have a normal price of $9.99 a month.
Let’s go into detail on some of the features of YouTube Music Key Beta, you can view any music video with the ad-free icon, with no ads, just jump right into the music and enjoy the visuals. You can also take this music videos offline and access them without an internet connection via the application. And then if you are using the service on your phone, you can do something else while listening to the music video. This is a great feature, you can have a playlist running and you wont be interrupted if you go out of the app or if you lock the screen.
YouTube is not just rolling out this paid subscription service, they realize that YouTube has become a home for music and are rolling out several free ad-supported features. For instance, on the front page of YouTube there is now a section dedicated to music, this will allow you to quickly and easily access your favorite artists and see there work. You can also make your own playlist of music videos and view others pre-made playlists, but you can cast all of this as well.
Overall, the new free features and the YouTube Music Key Beta service seem like a very unique spin on what the market currently has.
