Samsung Galaxy S7 First Look

Today, I had the chance to check out the Galaxy S7 at my local BestBuy Mobile store. They are the first stores in the country, maybe the world, to offer customers and consumers a like the chance to see the latest and greatest from Samsung in person. In person the Galaxy S7 resembles the earlier models, but it does have its own distinct differences.

The Galaxy S7 is the smaller of the two flagships for the year, but it packs almost same specifications and features. The main difference is the screen size, the S7 has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display and it is very sharp in person. Just from a few minutes with the device, I was quite impressed and colors are very vibrant.

Speed with any smartphone is important, and the S7 is powered by a quad-core 2.15GHz + 1.6GHz processor with 4GB of RAM. With this being said, it is expected that device is a powerhouse and it performed pretty well. Before making any final decisions, I will say I only had a few minutes with the device and will save those for our fourth coming full review.

The lenses on the device offer a fast shutter speed and sweet quality, the back has a dual pixel 12 megapixel lens, which notably is no flush with the back of the device. No longer do you have the lens sticking out, similar to the setup on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The front has a simple 5 megapixel lens that will come in handy for selfies and Snapchating.

Samsung has finally brought back expandable storage, with a unique SIM card slot, that also holds a micro SD card. You will find 32GB of internal storage, but you can now easily expand this. Lastly, the Galaxy S7 has a 3,000mAh battery inside.

Exclusive to BestBuy Mobile is a great deal and offer, when your pre-order a Galaxy S7 or a Galaxy S7 Edge, you will get two freebies. A Samsung Gear VR with an Oculus game bundle, as well as a 64GB microSD card. This will let you double the storage of your device instantly. This is an awesome deal and you can take advantage of it no matter what carrier you are on, as BestBuy Mobile can get you setup on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon.
