Honeywell’s Lyric Home Security and Home Control System is becoming the first-ever pro- installed and pro-monitored security system to work with Apple HomeKit. Thus HomeKit is Apple’s solution to the Smart home, in fact, in iOS 10 it got a dedicated application, Home, on iOS devices.
By adding support for HomeKit, Honeywell is providing its Lyric customers with another way to monitor their home. It is coming in the form of a software update for both current and future users of the Lyric Home System. This new integration will not replace the central hub, which is staying as the Lyric Security controller. However, this gives the user added benefit as they can access their system on there go through Apple’s Home application or via Siri.
This system can provide notifications to your iOS device if a motion is detected or if a door or window lock is opened. It will also fit into the larger HomeKit ecosystem which lets users control lights, doors, thermostats, outlets, and other connected devices. Honeywell will be rolling out Apple HomeKit Support for the Lyric Home Security and Control System within the first three months of 2017.
