Never Run Out of Charge Again
Mar 31st
What if you had a way to keep you phone or mp3 player from ever running out of battery. It sounds far fetched especially with something like a smartphone where your lucky to get through the day with out a charge. While batteries with infinite charge are far from being developed, a technology called nanogenerators can help you keep the battery charged all day. These tiny little chips create energy when they are flexed or strained and produce about as much voltage as a AA battery, about 1.5 volts. This technology is not incredibly new but Dr. Zhong Lin Wang of the Georgia Institute of Technology has recently announced that he and his team have created a new kind of nanogenerator that is capable of powering an LCD screen, the kind of screen most mobile devices use. The generators, about 1/4 the size of a stamp, would be woven into people clothing and as they moved, they would produce energy which would connect to your phone via some sort of charger. This would allow for full battery life all the time and all you need to do is move.

Fruit Ninja is Flying Off the Screen
Mar 29th
I am sure that many of you know what the mobile app Fruit Ninja is. Basically, a bunch of fruits pop onto the screen and you have to slice them in half. Sounds easy enough but you have to be careful because bombs will randomly appear making it more difficult. Students in a virtual reality workshop at the FH Wedel University of Applied Sciences created their own virtual reality Fruit Ninja. The controller is a moded Wiimote and the screen is a small room. It is powered by 4 PC’s and has 4 rear projection 3d displays, 4 infrared motion tracker cameras, a 5.1 surround sound system, and 2 floor rumble pads on the floor that vibrate when the blade come in con tack with a bomb. The project took two weeks and the developers are planning on using it for other mobile apps like angry birds ans doodle jump. This probably isnt going to be on the market any time soon after all it is just an experimental project but this technology could lead to virtual reality gaming for public use either in arcades or in the home.

The Self Repairing Nano composite
Mar 27th
Researchers at Rich university have developed a very interesting compound. It acts just like our bones or muscles do when we use them, it gets stronger. By stressing our muscles and bones, our body builds them up to be able to undergo the stress easier. This Process is very smiler to what is going on in this compound. Made out of polymer based nano composites and carbon nano tubes, this material stiffens/strengthens after stress is applied. as test was done on this compound and after 3.5 million compressions over a period of two weeks, the strength of the material increased by twelve percent. This material could be revolutionary in making prosthetic body parts because it acts in the same way as a real one. I belie that in thee near future this material will be used in all kinds of medical aspects. Well if it behaves the way they say it does, it should have more and more uses as time goes on.
Nintendo 3DS Launch
Mar 27th
We were live at Game-Stop early this morning to catch the Launch of the Nintendo 3DS. We went to our Local Game-Stop. When we got there there was around 10 people outside waiting to get in. They were very excited for it. Keep in mind many of them had already pre-ordered the game, from Game-Stop. They also had a good amount of the Unit’s and the Games on hand. They were also very good about making the lines move quickly. One young kid said, “I am very excited to get. It looks good”. He was able to get his very quickly and walked out with it in his hands. One other person we met with said this, ” I played it earlier at one of the demo events. It was awesome to finally see it. My old DS was kind getting worn out, so i deiced to get the new one; Either i would have gotten it. I also got a copy of “Street Fighter 4″. I was also surprised that it was one of there launch titles, but i am happy that i was able to get it. I cant wait to open it up!”. So people were buying the games that launched. Many were also pre-ordering some of the other titles that are set to be released later this year. So what we want to know is did any of you go out and get a 3DS on day one?
Razer Chacharias Review
Mar 26th
So there are a lot of people out there looking for good audio. There are pretty much two options for this, speaker systems, or headphones/headsets. I have found that headphones/headsets have better sound quality (my opinion you can think other wise) and when looking to buy one there are many options. Razer, a company that produces very high quality computer peripherals (keyboards, mice, audio) usually for gaming, has a line of very good quality gaming headsets for both consoles and computers. Their mid ranged one, the Chacharias, cost about $80 and is a 2.1 analog headset with a noise canceling 2.1 microphone. They were released a while ago but their quality deserves recognition. To begin with the sound quality on these are phenomenal. I have heard sounds i did not even know existed in movies, songs, games, and anything else that has an audio track. The lowest hertz the speakers in the Chacharias can produce is 20 Hz and the highest is 20,000 Hz which is the range of perfect human hearing (almost no one has perfect hearing but most people can be close). Because of this the bass in this headset is phenomenal, any lower and you literally couldn’t hear it. The earphones are not noise canceling but the audio is so good that outside noise does not interfere with the sounds being produced from your headset. Is is a circumaural design which means it goes around your ears and unlike most headsets of this quality, it is very comfortable. I can wear it for hours and forget I have it on. While the earphones don’t cancel noise the microphone does which is a very nice feature. This allows you to record or talk online without worry of picking up unwanted noise. Also it can rotate 270 degrees for versatility. My verdict: If you are looking for a quality headset for under $100, buying this one is one of the best things you can do.
