Sony has just announced that they will be releasing The Interview in select theaters on Christmas Day. It will be having a limited theatrical release, and we are awaiting a full list of theaters that will be showing the film. Michael Lynton, the CEO of Sony Entertainment, has said they are working to “secure more platforms and more theaters so that this movie reaches the largest possible audience“. This might mean that it might get a digital release on video on demand service as well. Along with Sony providing us a comment, which be seen fully below, Seth Rogen has also confirmed this via his Twitter.
The people have spoken! Freedom has prevailed! Sony didn’t give up! The Interview will be shown at theaters willing to play it on Xmas day!

This is Seth Rogen’s first Tweet or really comment on the situation, since Sony originally announced they would not be releasing the film after a massive hack.
