Earlier this evening during tonight’s taping of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart surprised audiences by announcing that he would be leaving the show later this year. Comedy Central has released the statement you can see below, the good news from the announcement is that he is not leaving until later this year. Jon Stewart has hosted the show for over 15 years and has been an absolutely phenomenal host. The show will continue, no word on who will be taking over is available at this time. On tonight’s show he stated that he believes it is time for someone else to have the incredible opportunity to host the show.
