Altec Lansing is back with a very interesting product announcement, they are releasing a new pair of headphones designed for DJs that have a camera built-in. Introducing the new DVR DJ-Style Headphones, that combine audio listening with a camera for a bird eyes view. As Altec Lansing puts it, this is a new way for DJs to pump up the energy and will let them record the scene hands free.
The new DVR DJ-Style Headphones will retail for $199.99 and will begin to ship in late Quarter 2 of 2016. It will be the first 40 mm large format drivers with an action cam in the same housing. By offering them the ability to record from that angle, it will make for some good promotional video for DJs to create buzz.
The DVR camera will record footage at 1080p at 30 frames per second. The camera itself will be housed on the outside of one of the ear cups and will be facing forward, providing a unique view. The footage can be streamed live over WiFi, but there is also 8GB of on board storage. In the box you will get a code to download Magisto, a video editing application for iPhone, Android, and Windows.
The DVR DJ-Style Headphones feature an embedded lithium-ion battery that can last for around 7 hours, an integral microphone with wind cancellation, navigational buttons, a foldable construction, and a carrying case.
