We first heard mumblings of Bruce Springsteen being on the cover of Vanity Fair this past weekend. As digital subscribers were given early access to the upcoming cover story on Sunday. This story is one of the most revealing interviews with the artist in quite some time. It also comes just twenty-two days before his biography Born to Run is released.
Bruce Springsteen is both on the cover and has the cover story for the October 2016 issue of Vanity Fair. It will hit newsstands this Thursday, but the story is available online now. The interviews with Springsteen occurred over the summer in Europe during that leg of The River Tour 16′, specifically with a photo shoot in Paris. David Kamp did the writing, and Annie Lebowitz took photos for the story.
Along with the written story and photo gallery, Vanity Fair also produced a video, which can be seen below.
The Vanity Fair story provides some insight into how revealing the book is and that it pushed the author. In the interview, he discusses his depression, his family, a neck and throat surgery that left him unable to sing for three months and much more. This piece also confirmed that Springsteen is planning a book tour with dates being announced in the future.
