Apple has just unveiled the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on stage at their “See You On The 7th.” event. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be launching on September 16th, along with pre-orders beginning today.
These are the most advanced iPhones ever and they are gorgeous, with an updated design. It has a new color option called Jet Black, which is high gloss and provides a seamless design. There is also a second new Black, called Black which is matte and very high tech. It still comes in Gold, Silver, and Rose Gold.

iPhone 7 and 7 Plus’s enclosure is both water and dust resistant. It now meets the IP67 protection standard and you can bring it almost anywhere. This is definitely a big feature of the device and will make many users happy.
Apple is also focusing in on the camera on iPhone 7. In the iPhone 7 you get optical image stabilization standard, a wide f/1.8 aperture lens, a six element lens, and a new 12-megapixel sensor. This lens setup is a paired with a Quad-LED True Tone Flash, which has a Flicker sensor built-in. Apple also has a dedicated and in-house designed image signal processor with a much larger ISP.
On the iPhone 7 Plus, you get two 12-megapixel cameras built-in. One is a wide angle lens, while the other is a telephoto lens. This enables you to create some awesome images and you can zoom in quite a bit.
The camera can scan the scene and can create a depth map of what is in the image. For instance, it allows you to keep the people in the front in sharp focus, and the background has a smooth blur going across it. This feature on the iPhone 7 Plus, exclusively, is portrait. Even better you can see the depth effect in real time before you choose to capture the image. This feature will come as a free update later this year!
Apple’s Retina HD Display is now 25% brighter and displays wide color gamut in the cinema standard. Instagram specifically has updated their application to take advantage of this wide color gamut screen. This update is both for Instagram Stories and normally shared photos.
Apple has finally added stereo speakers to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. One is at the bottom and one is at the top, they also have an increased dynamic range. Apple EarPods are getting an update as well, they will now connect over lightning. Yes, the headphone jack is gone. While the headphones in the box come with a lightning port, Apple is also including lightning to headphone adapter.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are fast. For starters, this year iPhone features the A10 Fusion Chip, which is a next generation chip. This is a 64-bit four-core processor which is super fast. Even better this more efficient chip makes for the longest battery life in an iPhone ever. If you’re coming from an iPhone 6s, Apple is saying you will get 2 hours more battery life.
