Huawei held an event in Paris France earlier today and they unveiled their next big thing, the Ascend P7. Last year they unveiled the Ascend P6, which didn’t feature LTE. The Ascend P7 brings new features, hardware, and an updated design to the table. For starters you get a very slim design at just 0.25 inches thick and weighing in at just 124 grams. This is paired with an all glass design, yes an all glass design, this means the front and back covers are made out of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Not only does it provide extra strength and durability, but it makes for a nice design. The Ascend P7 will come in your choice of black, white, or pink. It comes off with a unique appearance, on top or rather under the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the back you get a seven-layered rear surface treatment that has a spin design.
A large 5-inch in-cell FHD display is on board, coming in at a 1920 X 1080 display with 445 pixels per inch. Along with the back of the device, you get a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. It has a 16.7 million colors and an aspect ration of 16:9. Another big feature of the Ascend P7 is 4G LTE support inside, the P6 did not feature this. Specifically you get LTE Category 4 with speeds of 50Mbit/s on the upload and 150 Mbit/s for the download. Huawei has a unique dual antenna design which goal is to improve the reception on the device. It has a smart network switching technology built-in which will automatically switch the network to minimized battery drain.
A 2500 mAh lithium polymer is inside and it will get an estimated 404 hours of standby and should charge in 3.5 hours. Not only do you get speed from 4G LTE support, but a 1.8 GHz quad-core chipset with 2GB of RAM is on board. You will have 16GB of internal storage along with a micro SD card slot. It is running Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Huawei’s Emotion 2.3 user interface. On the back of the device you get a 13 megapixel camera on the back that uses a Sony 4th generation BSI sensor. While on the front you get a large 8 megapixel camera that will be great for taking selfies.
The Huawei Ascend P7 will come at a recommended price of 449 Euros. It will be starting it’s rollout this month, but the United States is not on the list. It will be interesting to see if it will eventually join one of the carriers in the US. Of course if you really want the device, you can buy it unlocked and put a SIM card inside. It will be launching in China, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Serbia, Greece, Norway, Hungary, Denmark, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates from May, with other markets to follow.
