FX Networks hit show Archer, kicked off its sixth season last Thursday night and it was certainly an excellent premiere episode. You can check out our full review on the site, but essentially it was resetting point as well. Archer Vice is no more, and they have made the move back to what could be considered normalcy for the agency. Of course now there is Lana and Archer’s baby in the mix, along with a new owner in the picture and that of course is the CIA. This week we begin to move further along with Season 6, as we venture into Three To Tango the second episode of the season.We kick off the episode with a reminder of how upset Mallory is with the renovation, as Slater reminds us that the office was supposed to be renovated. As we found out last week when you put Pam and Cheryl in charge of a renovation, things don’t always turn out so well. Slater is there to give them their first mission and Mallory hopes they will “kick right throw the basket with a home run”. Keep in mind that this is one of the many jokes that happens in this interchange. But the mission is not the best, it brings back an old friend, who’s not so welcome. Yes, we have the return of Conway Sterns, who has had a past relationship with both Archer, Lana, and the rest of the gang. You might remember that Mr. Stern tried to kill Archer, but then hurt his hand, kind of ripped it off.
Either way they have to put the past behind them and head over to Argentina, well actually both Archer and Lana are going. Which leads to some interesting dialogue about there baby, for instance who would take care of her if something happens to the both of them. Mallory seems to think she would be the one to take care, but Lana has some other ideas. This dialogue creates some tension, as we eagerly await the meeting of Conway and Archer. Keep in mind they haven’t seen each other since they both hurt each other, to say the least the next scene is the coolest revenge rampage TV has ever seen. While all of this is going Lana, takes care of making some tea and all-in-all this is one my favorite sequences from Archer ever.
As Archer has done in the past, it seems that he likes to change-up plans. The plan originally called for a simple extraction and Conway had a nice plan, but you could say it got Archer-ized. Yes, when in Argentina Archer gets to make his name a verb. Even though Lana feels the plan is way to complicated, Archer seems content with it until he changes things up. Throughout the mission, we get some great one-liners and run along jokes that move us through a fast paced sequence. After some mistakes Archer made like locking the doors to the limo, the plan moves forward.
We also get a taste of Kriegers latest invention in between the mission, and we learn that Conway Stern is still the same. As Lana and Archer thought originally, Conway Stern has double crossed him again and of course it was for revenge. But, let’s just say once again it does not end well for Conway Stern. Three To Tango has to be one of the best episodes of the series, it provides humor, a great story line, and more than just a few action packed sequences. The third episode of Archer Season 6 will be airing next Thursday at 10PM on FX! We would like to thank FX Networks for providing us with screens for Archer Season 6.
