Jimmy Fallon knows the Tonight Show is big and NBC knows it is big as well, and late last night or rather earlier this morning, they have The Tonight Show Super Bowl Edition. It was super star show, filled with many special guests on top of the guaranteed guests, these were Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart, and Ariana Grande. NBC brought The Tonight Show to Arizona, in fact they were live from the Orpheum Theatre! This was one of the hottest events in town and tickets for this one night only special event, sold out in minutes. It also topped the TV charts and Jimmy and the rest of The Tonight Show crew brought the house down!

They kicked off the show the regular way, with a quite comical monologue and it was very timely, especially since the show was live. The set looked very similar to the one in Studio 6B, but was decked out with two big screens and a Arizona Football type skyline behind the desk. Steve Higgins was behind the podium and the legendary Roots crew was there as well. They did Tonight Show Superlatives and a very funny sketch called The Scooter Pole, when watching the latter be sure to pay attention. They did a special rendition of We Are The Champions with many guests including Usher, Carrier Underwood, One Direction, Blake Shelton, and a few others. The video was produced in a Brady Bunch like fashion and it sounded pretty good. By the way, they had the coolest send off yet to a commercial break in history, and yes Arnold Schwarzenegger made it very special.

The main event was of course the Super Bowl of Lip Sync Battles, a skit that The Tonight Show has made famous. The computers were Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart, and Jimmy Fallon, but there were some special guests up their sleeves. All in all, it made for the best Lip Sync Battle yet, and I highly suggest you check it out! There were several players from the New England Patriots, which were the winners of the 49th Super Bowl. Danny Amendola, Brandon LaFell, and LeGarrette Blount came over right after the game to be apart of this epic show. Last but not least, Ariana Grande premiered her new song live for millions to view across the world.

Overall, The Tonight Show Super Bowl Edition was phenomenal and it did very well in ratings as well. It was the most watched post Super Bowl late night show in People Meters, which dates back to September 1987, history. Overall it delivered 9.834 million viewers and was the #2 telecast ever of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” in total viewers. The only episode that still has it beat was the premiere episode on February 17th 2014. These last two were according to “fast official” ratings from Nielsen Media Research, but NBC Research estimates that a total of 13.7 million viewers watched all or some of the show. Last but not least, in 2012 when Fallon brought Late Night to a post Super Bowl, but with the Tonight Show’s Super Bowl Edition it was up +131%. The Tonight Show Super Bowl Edition was awesome and I highly suggest you check it out, he is also bring the show to Los Angeles this week.
