Honeywell is making some big moves to there connected family of products, specially with some updates and new additions to the Lyric family of connected products. They are seeing the trend in the connected home and coming out with key updates that will offer unique features to there customers. For starters, they are opening up the Lyric family of products to work with Apple HomeKit, Samsung SmartThings, and IFTTT. On top of new integrations with what these connected devices can work with, Honeywell is unleashing some new products.
The second generation of the Lyric Round Wi-Fi Thermostat is here and it is bringing Apple HomeKit capability. This is another key differentiation between the Lyric and other connected thermostats, like the Nest, the ability to control the Lyric with Siri from your iOS device. The Lyric was the original connected product from Honeywell and it pushed through the idea of a do it yourself connected home. While you can add indoor/outdoor cameras, glass break sensors, and smoke detectors through the professionally installed Lyric Home Security System network.
Now, Honeywell is adding Lyric Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector to the Lyric Family of connected products. And yes, these will be a do it yourself install for this water leak and freeze detector. It will be available for order soon from Honeywell and will go for $79.99. It is great to see Honeywell expanding the Lyric product portfolio and I am hoping some other new products will come later this year.
