Oculus Rift is finally getting ready to ship its product to consumers, that is right the now Facebook-owned company has started pre-orders. You can now pre-order an Oculus Rift, there is a 1 per person limit, for $599 direct from the company. For $599, you are getting the Oculus Rift, sensor, an Xbox One controller, and an Oculus Remote.
The Oculus Rift itself is the headset itself which has built-in headphones and a microphone. Along with the hardware, you will get the game, Lucky’s Tale, which was created by Playful, along with EVE: Valkyrie. There will be dozens of full length games available when the Rift launches in March. Specifically, the first date to get an Oculus Rift will be March 28th, this was when pre-orders opened up this morning.
Along with being able to pre-order the Oculus Rift, you can download an application that will you know if your PC meets the requirements to work with the VR headset. Come February, for $1499, you will be able to pre-order Oculus Ready PC and a Rift. You will be able to switch to this bundle and not have your shipping date change as well.
The first round countries are Oculus Rift will be shipping to are Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and United States.
As of this writing the ship date for just an Oculus Rift is in May of 2016, the good news here is that while it does $599, you don’t have to pay until closer to your ship date.
