LaCie is known for creating some impressive storage solutions, and they are releasing two new products at the 2017 CES. Or rather updates, as they need to add Thunderbolt 3 connectivity options. There has been an onslaught of Thunderbolt 3 aka USB-C computers over the past few days and months, including Apple’s 2016 MacBook Pros.
The first is the updated LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt USB-C drive. It will come in 2TB, 4TB and 5TB HDD and 500GB and 1TB SSD capacities start at $249.99. The Seagate BarraCuda is the drive LaCie has gone with for reliability and performance. The SSD versions hit speeds of up to speeds of up to 510MB/s–which should perfect companions for editors using Final Cut Pro or the Adobe Suite.
The LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 3 was also updated and can provide up to an extra 10TB of storage. This is the perfect drive bandwidth-intensive creative applications and is ideal for the new MacBook Pros that are being used for video editing. It has a Seagate BarraCuda Pro 7200RPM hard disk drive which can deliver speeds of up to 240MB/s. This Thunderbolt 3 drive will come 6TB, 8TB and 10TB capacities starting at $429.99.
