LaCie unveils new Thunderbolt 3 Storage Drives

LaCie is known for creating some impressive storage solutions, and they are releasing two new products at the 2017 CES. Or rather updates, as they need to add Thunderbolt 3 connectivity options. There has been an onslaught of Thunderbolt 3 aka USB-C computers over the past few days and months, including Apple’s 2016 MacBook Pros.

The first is the updated LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt USB-C drive. It will come in 2TB, 4TB and 5TB HDD and 500GB and 1TB SSD capacities start at $249.99. The Seagate BarraCuda is the drive LaCie has gone with for reliability and performance. The SSD versions hit speeds of up to speeds of up to 510MB/s–which should perfect companions for editors using Final Cut Pro or the Adobe Suite.

The LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 3 was also updated and can provide up to an extra 10TB of storage. This is the perfect drive bandwidth-intensive creative applications and is ideal for the new MacBook Pros that are being used for video editing. It has a Seagate BarraCuda Pro 7200RPM hard disk drive which can deliver speeds of up to 240MB/s. This Thunderbolt 3 drive will come 6TB, 8TB and 10TB capacities starting at $429.99.
