When C by GE first launched, they lacked support for many smart home automation platforms. Initially, you needed to get the separate C by GE app, which is still in use for the Sol Lamp. But, along the way, GE Lighting added in support for Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant. Allowing you to control your lights and other aspects of your home with your voice.

And since it is CES season, with the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show kicking off next week, GE Lighting has announced that Apple HomeKit compatibility is incoming in the first quarter. This means that the C-Life and C-Sleep bulbs, that some consumer might already have, you will need to get the C-Reach bridge, which will allow you to control the lamps with Siri. In addition to the voice control, you can use the Home app on your iOS device to set up automation and control the bulbs when your away from home.

I am hoping that GE Lighting will also bring an update to the Sol Lamps that will add in functionality with HomeKit, but I don’t anticipate this happening soon as that is an Amazon Alexa lamp. Either way, GE Lighting will be rolling out Apple HomeKit support for C by GE bulbs in the first quarter of 2018.
