Thames & Kosmos, a STEM toy company with an emphasis on hands-on learning, has launched an impressive number of products for kids to learn basic science concepts. At Toy Fair 2018 their Pepper Mint series of science-based adventure games were unveiled. The series features a girl named Pepper Mint who helps people around her by using science skills to improve their lives. Along the way, players learn basic physics concepts by helping Pepper Mint along the way.

Pepper Mint in the Great Treehouse Engineering Adventure focuses on Pepper Mint’s travels to visit her aunt in Borneo. Pepper Mint and her aunt learn from the physics of pulleys, winches, and gears to make her aunt’s treehouse even better than before. Kids learn about simple machines and even electrical circuits by stepping through each experiment.

In another kit, Pepper Mint in the Fantastic Underwater Science Voyage, she accompanies an expedition to the Bermuda Triangle. When the mission goes awry, Pepper Mint helps rescue her ship using principles of hydraulics. The lessons here focus on mechanical physics, electric circuits, and physical principles of water and air.

Both of these are wooden building sets for kids to put together, plus a full-color storybook to tell Pepper Mint’s story, an instruction manual, a Pepper Mint figurine, and ten unique experiments to teach kids scientific principles. These are set to launch in August 2018 at a retail price of $39.95, but you can expect a full review soon!
